hi there,
just followed the following article to create RDP web client, and it works.
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/remote/remote-desktop-services/clients/remote-desktop-web-client-admin
however, we found that we couldn't type in any non-English language, such as Chinese, in any applications launched.
just wondering if anyone has similar issue, and are there any fix?
Regards,
Hi all,
I have a Windows server 2016 domain controller under VMware vsphere 6.0 virtualization. Once the user logs in the RDP session, previously checked the printer local resource , neither usb printer nor network printers are available in the users RDP sessions.
We have disable the easy print through local and GPO domain policies.
Any ideas to solve it?
thanks in advance, we are desperate.
Juan
Hello,
I have this single Windows Server 2016 and have about 4 users connecting to it through RDP.
This server have all the roles (AD and the others needed for RDS).
I purchased 4 RDS user cals. I installed those and it started issuing licenses. By mistake I was logged in as Administrator without the /admin flag and it assigned one to that user. Since the GUI wouldnt let me revoke, based on a few articles around I stopped the RD license service and wiped clean the lserver folder inside the windows32. Started the service again, reinstalled the CALS and now I have the CALS available 4/4 and is not issuing any of those again to the users connecting.
I'm still on grace period which is why I suspect it is not disconnecting the users.
After that I have tried rebuild the licensing database which does basically the same thing I did manually and still no luck.
The licensing diagnostic tool puts all green and show the 4 licenses available.
There are a few errors that have always been there about the licensing unable to join the AD and something about connection broker in the logs but it was working fine with those errors since the licensing server and mode is being enforced by group policy.
So what could be the issue? I also noticed it issues licenses to users as long as those user were never issued CALS before the wipe of the lserver folder.
Hi, I have set up RDS 2016 farm in forest A (2 WA, 2 CB and 2 SH servers). Having done that, session host sitting in other forest B was added to the RDS farm. There are two collections, one with apps published on 2 SH servers in forest A and the other one with apps published on SH in forest B. Adding SH from forest B and collection creation/app publishing on it were done with TWO-WAY trust between forest A and forest B.
Having removed trust (forest A trusts forest B) leaving me with ONE-WAY trust I can access applications published on SH in forest B by using PAM request and proper rights were passed through. Problem is that now, with one-way trust in place, I can not publish new apps on SH in forest B neither with GUI or PowerShell.
Since this RDS farm is part of Active Directory Red Forest design (ESAE) having two-way trust between forest(s) defies purpose of whole project. Is there any solution for this or only way to publish new apps on SH in forest B is to temporarily recreate other trust direction (forest A trusts forest B) which would certainly be turned down?
Thanks in advance!
Hello,
Hello Team,
I need you help regrading a situation.
Recently, we have migrate our Server prod with Two VMs (DC + VM-BusinessApp) correctly from 2012r2 to 2016.
The old VM-BusinessApp (2012r2) has a RDS roles installed, and users connected to it remotely via RDP.
So now, I need to install and config the RDS roles (CAL User 2019) on the new VM 2016 but want to know exactly the best practice to install the RDS Server :
- Can I install it on this VM-BusinessApp witch contains already our Business Application in prod ? ( VM: 8 Cores / 30 GB Ram)
- it's not dangerous regarding security ?
- Or I should to install the RDS to another Server joined to the same domain and then users can access remotely to our business Application ?
- What's the best practices regarding configuration RDS and also security term ?
Thanks a lot for your help!

Admin
How can i restrict the remote desktop connections for one particular administrative user account from all clients in the network to a server? At the same time rdp should be allowed for this particular administrative user account only from specified IP address/hostname.
Also the rdp should work generously for all other users from any clients in the networks. There should not be any restriction for all other users except that particular admin user account.
Hello, I read some place that with Server 2016 users were able to change there RDP session screen resolution. Is there a way to accomplish this?
Thank you
We have OpenGL application working on a server computer. If later we connect via RDP to this server, OpenGL application continues to function without any problems. Obviously RDP just transfers image from server to remote computer.
If we start the same OpenGL application on the same server from RDP session, it runs OpenGL not on server but on the remote computer. Application crashes on operations that require OpenGL 2.0 or higher.
Is there any way to force RDP to run OpenGL code always on server no matter how it was started, directly on server or from remote computer?
Hi,
Hope someone can help my concern.
I'm working multiple servers (hyper-v and host) w/ Windows 2012 Std/R2. Before this happen my rdp working in normal. Now, after login the credential, instead directly login to remote, it prompt the Windows login.
Hi,
I'm running Windows 2016 server Standard and the 120 day grace period expired. I purchased a 5 pack of licenses and activated the license server but when I try to connect remotely I get the following error.
The remote session was disconnected because there are no Remote Desktop License Server available to provide a license. What am I missing the acivation was successful.
Thanks

We have started using Server 2016 as RDS session hosts and we had to create a new Server 2016 licensing server as the session hosts require a Server 2016 as well.
I have created the new licensing 2016 server, activated it, added it to the AD group of terminal server licensing , added licenses.
Then I added the new server as the RD license server of the RD deployment and chose 'per user" licensing mode. There is no other RD license server listed in the configuration or in the server list in server manager. I can confirm that with powershell command:
PS C:\Windows\system32> Get-RDLicenseConfigurationMode LicenseServer---- -------------PerUser {HostRDL2016.XYZ.com}
When I run RD Licensing Diagnoser, the server that is diagnosed is the old server (Server 2012), not the one I created.
How can I fix this?
As far everything went great. I've add to one collection old 2012 rdhost. Worked, but when i try to add to collection new rdhost with 2016 datacenter version and i try to run it from iis i receive error like:
"No computers abailable in the pool"
I've searched almoust hole Internet - adding broker local policy etc. Nothing...In this 2016 RDS enviroment there are 2 brokers without HA (i will do this soon, after solve this problem).
Please help with that issue.
Regards,
Michal
So I am setting up a new RDS configuration. I have the all of the RDS roles installed on one server except the license server. It is on a Domain Controller. Here is what I am seeing when a user logs into the RD server.
Has anyone seen this before? Am I doing something wrong? Please help!
Hi everyone,
I have setup an Windows 2012 RDS host and am able to access it externally by using https://remote.domain.com/rdweb.
Therefore I can log in and launch remote apps.
Local printers get redirected, but I do not seem to be able to see the remote printers on the RDS server.
The printer is installed and it is installed on the server.
What if I want to print on the server printer rather than my own printer?
How to get to show the printers in the RDWEB page?
We have setup a single RDS 2012 R2 running a few published apps via RD web
Because these apps are for remote users only, we have a seperate RDS gateway server (2012 R2) setup as well for that purpose.
All remote users are on Win10.
At random times during the day (really no pattern to it) the remote apps the user has open will start stealing focus.
For example they might be typing a new email in their outlook (which is installed locally on the PC), while the remote app program is sitting in the background open, and it will steal focus and come to the foreground.
Here is what I've checked so far:
I'm a bit at loss here, has anyone seen this one before?
Using 2016 server using Failover Cluster Manager running multiple VMs and RDS setup.
On one specific Vm for just a few of the users when they try to login the screen just keeps flashing and the login is never successful. Only a reboot of the VM fixes the problem temporarily but then it is back the next day.
All user accounts are domain accounts.
The error log shows this -

I have done a fair bit of googling and this seems to be a fairly common issue with no obvious fix other than to rebuild the VM from scratch.
The thing is it only applies to certain user accounts on the VM not all of them and when the issue is present I can still login with the domain admin account with no problems.
So couple of questions -
1) If it is only specific user accounts that display this problem does that suggest that it is not an issue with the VM or is that a false assmumption ?
2) If it just the user accounts then what I want to do is create new accounts for these users but then I need to replicate their profile in terms of desktop settings etc.
Can someone tell me how to go about doing that ?
Any help or suggestions on the above would be much appreciated.
