I'm having issues getting a RDS session host to be issued licenses from the RD licensing server.(configuration is below) If I open the RD Licensing Diagnoser on Server2 I can see it's pointing to Server1 for licensing but it tells me that
"The Remote Desktop Session Host server is in Per Device licensing mode and No Redirector Mode, but license server IP ADDRESS OF SERVER does not have any installed licenses with the following attributes:Product version: Windows Server 2016
Licensing mode: Per Device
License type: RDS CALs or VDI Premium Suite licenses"
I entered credentials for Server1 in to server2 Licensing Diagnoser and it connected ok and showed all the available licenses. I then rebooted Server2 and check again and I'm getting the above error message and it won't accept the credentials for Server1, I even setup a new Administrator user on Server1 and tried those credentials and it will not accept it, it immediately fails with no error and the password prompt remains. No configuration changed between the time it took to restart server2, why is this happening? I went in to credential manager on server2, deleted the credentials and retyped them but it doesn't help.
We have two RDS 2016 Servers in a workgroup environment so had to use per device CALS.
Server1 (WORKGROUP)
RD Session Host
Licensing Server Installed and Activated (12 Device CALS installed)
Server 2 (WORKGROUP)
RD Session Host
Connects to Server1 licensing server
