A new virtual desktop could not be created from the virtual desktop template.

When attempting to add another virtual desktop to my remote desktop collection I'm getting an error.

A new virtual desktop could not be created from the virtual desktop template.

Verify that all the Hyper-V servers in the deployment have the correct network configuration and available hardware resources, and then try again.

I'm trying to figure out what that means. I've looked at the settings of the template vm and it would seem that the network looks right. Mac address set to dynamic.

What could be the cause of this?

How can I make the client by the connection quality of lan10mkps forcely under Windows Server 2012 R2?

Hello,

I made a virtualized host here and enabled remotefx. The client is Win7, rdp8.1 protocol. When I use the remote desktop, I need to manually select LAN 10 Kmps connection quality to connect to the remote desktop. When using automatic detection of connection quality, I stop to estimate the connection quality and exit. . Similarly, when I use rdweb pages, I stop to estimate connection quality and then exit.

May I ask what I can do to solve this problem (similar to remote connection using LAN connection quality)

I would like to express my thanks for any advice and help you can give.

Alt Tab will not function in a Remote App

Windows 7 RDC, Server 2008 R2 RDP. When running an application as a Remote app you are unable to switch between applications running as Remote APPs. Even changing the value of keyboardhook in the RDP shortcut has no effect. Alt Tab always effects the local machine.

Basicaly if your remote app opens another program, eg a print dialog in the background, you will never be able to get to it.

If find it amazing that this has been reported possibly greater than a year ago and there is absolutly no solution in site.

Delay with ALT-TAB using remoteapps in 2012

My remoteapps are functioning very well, but I am having an issue where switching between remoteapp programs using ALT-TAB, leaves the 'switched to' application in ALT mode.

Normally you would just ALT-TAB and continue entering data into whatever application, but most times when I switch, like to an Excel spreadsheet, it is as if I had just pressed ALT, to access the File menu.

If I hold or process the ALT-TAB motion slowly, all is normal. But with ALT-TABing very frequently, it is most often a very quick keyboard combination.

So it seems like there is latency happening here.

Is this a known bug? Or is there some optimization I could apply to correct this behavior?

update KB4467697 breaks remote desktop

On a 2012 R2 remote desktop server, update KB4467697 breaks some remote desktop services.  I had the exact same problem with the preview KB4462921.   Removing either update makes the problem disappear.

Passthrough RDP connections through the gateway work just fine so there is no problems there.  The problem seems to be related to RDP on the remote server itself.  These two updates break direct RDP logins, we have to use TeamViewer or visit the physical console in order to gain access to the desktop.  Clients can login to the RDP website and see published apps, they just won't open.

With either of these updates installed, thousands of these errors appear in the event log:
A fatal error occurred while creating an SSL client credential. The internal error state is 10013.

Does anyone have information as to why the latest November 13 cumulative update for Windows Server 2012 R2 breaks RDP and Remote Desktop published apps with 10013 errors in the event log?

RDS 2012 R2: A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the (name-of-service) service

Hi guys,

On a random base (daily, weekly) we're experiencing major log-in problems on our Windows Server 2012 R2 Remote Desktop Services farm. The VM's are hosted on Hyper-V 2008 hosts and we're not using Citrix techniques etc.

Users are reporting that they cannot log-in, the log-in sessions hangs with a blank screen when loading their user profile (e.g. Please Wait For The User Profile Service).

In the System event log of the server on which the user is logging on the following errors are shown:

Source:        Service Control Manager
Date:          23-12-2014 7:28:01
Event ID:      7011
Task Category: None
Level:         Error
Keywords:      Classic
User:          N/A
Description:

A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the UmRdpService service.

…and after 30 (or sometimes 60) seconds, the same error only another service (in random order):

A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the UmRdpService service.

…and after exactly 30 seconds, the same error only another service:

A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the UxmSms service.

etcetera, with the following errors:

A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the Netman service.

A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the AudioEndPointBuilder service.

A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the WPDBusEnum service.

A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the NlaSvc service.

The Portable Device Enumerator Service service failed to start due to the following error:
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the TrkWks service.

A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the UmRdpService service.

These errors are logged continuously.

An administrator cannot solve this since he isn't able to login in as well (console or remotely), only a hard reset of the VM is possible to use the affected server again.

I took different steps to solve this problem without any success, like:

- Installing the latest Windows updates
- Removed unnecessary printer drivers, print monitors and print processors (no local printers/drivers are installed, only Remote Desktop Easy Printer driver is used)
- Searched different forum posts, but found only hotfixes for Windows Server 2008 R2.

Can someone please help me with this annoying problem?

Many thanks!!

EDIT:
Of course is increasing the time-out not really an option here... http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/13765.event-id-7011-service-timeout.aspx

Default value for session disconnect because of network disconnection

Hello everybody,

I am searching for the default value after which amount of time, or possibly count of packets a rdp session is getting disconnected.

We have keep-alive enabled and set to 1 (minute).

We also have set the limits for idle state and so on, but my question is really basic.

If I pull out the cable of a Client (say Windows 7 or 10) which has an established rdp session to a Windows Server 2012 R2:
How long does it takes for the session to change to state disconnected?

And additionally: is there a way to modify this time?

Best regards, Stefan

Event ID 1026 : The installation of the default connection has been cancelled. A default connection cannot be used on a system that is part of a Remote Desktop Services deployment.

We have migrated users from Windows 2012 R2 Remoteapps to Windows 2016. The Windows Server 2016 was built with fresh OS and users migrated to the new server by pointing the GPO  (Windows Components/Remote Desktop Services/RemoteApp and Desktop Connections/
The default connection URL must be configured in the form of http://contoso.com/rdweb/Feed/webfeed.aspx.

If you enable this policy setting, the specified URL is configured as the default connection URL for the user and replaces any existing connection URL. The user cannot change the default connection URL. The user's default logon credentials are used when setting up the default connection URL.

If you disable or do not configure this policy setting, the user has no default connection URL.

Note: RemoteApp programs that are installed through RemoteApp and Desktop Connections from an untrusted server can compromise the security of a user's account.
" gpmc_settingname="Specify default connection URL" gpmc_settingpath="User Configuration/Administrative Templates/Windows Components/Remote Desktop Services/RemoteApp and Desktop Connections" gpmc_supported="At least Windows Server 2012, Windows 8 or Windows RT" tabindex="0">We are now seeing the above warning "
The installation of the default connection has been cancelled. A default connection cannot be used on a system that is part of a Remote Desktop Services deployment." when a user connects to a Remoteapp.

We also have an issue when user's session is idle for sometime the Remoteapps stops responding and clicking on "Reconnect to Workspaces" throws an error "Unable to launch resource:0x800705b4" I am not sure if both these are related.

RDS 2016 gateway error event id 312 "The user "abc@xyz.com", on client computer "xx.xx.xx.xx:2985", has initiated an outbound connection. This connection may not be authenticated yet."

When try to connect from public network to RDS 2016 environment web page is loaded, but when try to connect on RDP clinet, it will ask for credentials and after that it will connect to remote machine. Error shows as " your computer can't connect to the remote computer because remote desktop gateway server is temporarily unavailable"

When checking on error log found that even id 312 on gateway server

The user "abc@xyz.com", on client computer "xx.xx.xx.xx:2985", has initiated an outbound connection. This connection may not be authenticated yet.

I tried the registry key fix recommended for 2012 server (HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa) and (HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\TerminalServerGateway\Config\Core) but no joy. It did not work for 2016 server. Please help.

Black screen when connecting from Windows Server 2008R2 to 2012R2 environment

Hi all,

Some of our users are experiencing issues when connecting from a Windows Server 2008R2 terminalserver to our 2012R2 Remote App environment

Our setup is as follows:

Windows Server 2012R2

Gateway/connection broker 2012R2

Allow connections only from computers with NLA.

A webfeed url is used to connect: https://***.***.nl/RDWeb/Feed/webfeed.aspx

Followed by AD domain creds.

We are using Kemp LoadMaster loadbalancers: Vers:7.1.35.4.15528.RELEASE.

The loadbalancers are allowing TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, TLS 1.2, SSL acceleration is enabled.

We suspect that the issue is caused by a (or multiple) Windows updates on the 2008R2 side.

Does anyone have an idea?

Thank you in advance!

Clients Dropping connection via Thin client to new 2016 terminal server

We just installed two new vmware 2016 standard servers.  One is setup as DC and the other a TS.  There are 30 dell wyse 5070 thinOS thin clients that users are using to connect in to the TS using new 8 Cisco AP (1852) with a new 3504 Cisco WLC.

From day 1 there have been problems with the thin clients dropping their connection to the TS and having to reconnect back in.  The common cause is when using Google maps or anything that uses graphics, which they use quite a bit for dispatching employees.  The screen will freeze up on the RDP session itself, and they will kick back out to the thin client desktop.  At the time of the disconnect we have noticed that the wireless on the thin clients disassociate with the Access point, and then re-associates.  Our first though was that the problem was with the newly installed Cisco AP's, but that was ruled out when we were not able to reproduce the problem from a laptop using wireless.

I have changed some group policy settings on the terminal server and set RDP compression to "Optimized to use less network bandwidth" and RDP Experience to "Optimized for minimum bandwidth usage".  This has helped somewhat.  We went from users dropping ever 5-10 minutes, to now maybe 4-5 drops total across all users per day.  The problem with these settings is that now users are having a hard time with the graphics performance.  Moving windows around is laggy, maximizing and minimizing windows is slow to refresh, and lots of pixilation.

I currently have a ticket open with Dell to look into these issues as far as the thin clients go, but they are being less then helpful.

Certificate problems Remote host external domain with wildcard certificate

Hello

I have two hosts which have the following roles installed (both servers have  the same roles ) and my clients only connect externally, never internally. The servers are the same configured with these roles.

- Connection broker

- Gateway

- Web App

- Host session

I have configured them to connect through a rd gateway (terminal.externaldomain.com) and set up a server farm (rdfarm.external domain.com). I have a certificate issued by thawthe for the domain * .externaldomain.com.

I attached the url to you to see a capture, it does not let me put it in the forum.

http://www.atm2.es/soporte/captura1.png

Everything is fine (in fact the clients are connecting now) but sometimes and without any evident pattern, the connection  trying to connect to the internal name of the server rdsh1.internaldomain or rdsh2.internaldomain.com. I tried to pass the script to rename the name of the server but it rename me the name of the farm, not the server. In fact I do not understand why this behaviour  because as you see in the first capture

I put the url does not let me put images, see url below) the remote computer is rdfarm.externaldomain.com and the second is already madprdts01.localdomain.com

http://www.atm2.es/soporte/captura2.png

Also and in relation to this I have an error 0x607 of authentication from time to time that is solved only entering from the client a second time and it is fixed alone.

I believe that everything is related to the problem of certificates, but I am a little lost and I do not know what to do anymore.

I appreciate your collaboration

Thank you so much

How to Publish Remote Apps under different instance heading

Hello,

I have different environment RemoteApps that are being published under the RDWeb site.

I have RDS installed on WindowServer 2012 R2. To make more sense for the End User I think it would better if I publish the RemoteApps under different instance headings.

I want the instance name as a heading instead of separate folders.

Can anyone please advise how to make that happen

thank you

Unlock remote session host

Hey

If I have credentials saved for an RDP connection, it logs me in when I connect. But if the session locks (my servers all timeout after 10-15 minutes and lock), I have to type my password to unlock (or cheat and close/reopen the connection :-)

Is there a way to resend the credentials and unlock an existing open, locked RDP session?

Thanks in advance

Mike

I am wanting to replace a Windows Server 2008 with 25 terminal services licenses with a Windows Server 2016.  Will I have to purchase new licenses (all 25) or is there a transfer process?

Hi,

our workstations with Windows 10 pro are in this weekend updated to version 1803. For main system we use RemoteAPP aplications on Windows server 2012R2 (Windows server 2012R2 is full updated). After update on client station are RemoteAPP slower, and  right mouse button is unresponsive, or react verly long time...

It is a big problem for us.

PS: after replace mstsc.exe and mstscax.dll from older version Windows 10 is all OK. but this is not a solution.

Thanks.
