Default value for session disconnect because of network disconnection

$

0

Hello everybody,

I am searching for the default value after which amount of time, or possibly count of packets a rdp session is getting disconnected.

We have keep-alive enabled and set to 1 (minute).

We also have set the limits for idle state and so on, but my question is really basic.

If I pull out the cable of a Client (say Windows 7 or 10) which has an established rdp session to a Windows Server 2012 R2:
How long does it takes for the session to change to state disconnected?

And additionally: is there a way to modify this time?

Best regards, Stefan

Hello,

We have a RDS 2016 evironment en randomly some client have strange screen issue's, distorted screen in their RDS session. People with the problems are switching often between application and it looks like screen caching problem. When disconnecting the session and reconnect the problem is solved. See screenshot:

 What have we done:

* Disabled persistent cache under advanced RDP settings clients.

* Disabled other settings under advanced RDP settings clients

* There is nog difference between connecting with thin client or fat client

Remote desktop Can't connect to the remote desktop for one of these reasons

I have a Remote desktop Services solution where I have published some remoteapps, mostly rdp-links to different servers. Some of these work and some doesnt. I get this error message:

The thing is that it connects to the rd session host and  I can see eventIDS 800,801 and 818 and they are successful.  but when redirecting to the server the Connection drops

I have played With the settings for the rd Gateway to no avail. My solution is Web Access, Connection broker and RD Gateway  installed on two servers  load balanced through netscaler. Session hosts for different Collections are on dedicated servers behind them.

I can Connect directly to the servers from my Client and also through RDS with the option for connecting to a Remote pc but not via remoteapps

A new virtual desktop could not be created from the virtual desktop template.

When attempting to add another virtual desktop to my remote desktop collection I'm getting an error.

A new virtual desktop could not be created from the virtual desktop template.

Verify that all the Hyper-V servers in the deployment have the correct network configuration and available hardware resources, and then try again.

I'm trying to figure out what that means. I've looked at the settings of the template vm and it would seem that the network looks right. Mac address set to dynamic.

What could be the cause of this?

Receive Remote Assistance Support from Microsoft -- firewall port to allow

Hi,

We raised a case with Microsoft and they asked us to enter 6 digit code in the link and click on "connect technician". After clicking, a windows poped-up but it stayed at connecting. Not sure what ports should be allowed in firewall or proxy to get this connected. Please help in resolving it. Even microsoft engineer didn't know how to fix this or what ports should be allowed in firewall.

Please move this post to relevant link if this is not the right place.

directx3d problem about remoteapp srv

$

hello,

When I deploy a remoteapp server under Windows Server 2012 r2, after the RDS server is deployed, DirectX can be used normally when I login to the server locally, but when using another windows server 2012 with rdp8.1 protocol, I login to the session server remotely, using dxdiag command, and find that only Directx3d is enabled. Directxdraw acceleration and AGP texture acceleration are not available.

Gpedit. MSc > remote session environment: configure remotefx, optimize visual experience when remotefx is used, optimize visual experience for remote desktop service session, use advanced remotefx graphics for remoteapp, configure image quality of remotefx adaptive graphics, configure remotefx adaptive graphics, and use hardware for all remote desktop service sessions Default graphics adapter.

All of these have been set up.

I have deployed another server successfully before, Directx3d function can work, but this one can not work, there are hardware differences between the former using NVIDIA Quadro k4000 graphics card, the latter using NVIDIA geforce GTX 1060 graphics card.

is there any omissions in the deployment process?

thanks.

while launching RemoteApp it is freezing

Hello All,

I am expecting a little help from you. I have RDS installed and configured with Trusted SSL using 15 Session host servers and 1 broker server and 2 (Gateway, RDweb, and License) server. All the user workstations are on Windows 7.

Currently, we have published the RemoteApp on the RDWeb and whenever the user tries to launch the RemoteApp it just spins forever and after we kill the RDP from Task manager if we relaunch the RemoteApp then it is launching fine.

I tried

!. "Computer Configuration/Policies/Admin Templates/Windows Components/Remote Desktop Services/Remote Desktop Session Host/Remote Session Environment: Use advanced RemoteFX graphics for RemoteApp – Disabled"

2. unchecked the Local resources -drives for the Collection.

Both the tries were not successful. I'll need to know what is the exact solution to my issue. Since this is a behavioral issue I don't have much knowledge on this where to look.

Could anyone please give me a suggestion.

I tried on Windows 10 workstation and see this when I launch the RemoteApp.

While spinning it says

1.initiate remote connection

2.securing remote connection

3.configuring remote session

4.securing remote connection

5.configuring remote session then keeps spinning at this step until I kill this from Taskmanager.

Since I have a trusted certificate that is not the issue. this is happening only sometimes not all the time so I really do not know where to look.

Pls advise

Thank you

Hello,

Sometimes when connecting to the RemoteApps from RDWeb site connection is freezing and had to manually kill the connecting screen. If I relaunch the application it would work.  The below screen keeps spinning.

RDS is on windows server 2012 R2. When users trying to launch they noticed this issues.

Please suggest me how can I fix this issue

RDS 2012 R2: A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the (name-of-service) service

$

Hi guys,

On a random base (daily, weekly) we're experiencing major log-in problems on our Windows Server 2012 R2 Remote Desktop Services farm. The VM's are hosted on Hyper-V 2008 hosts and we're not using Citrix techniques etc.

Users are reporting that they cannot log-in, the log-in sessions hangs with a blank screen when loading their user profile (e.g. Please Wait For The User Profile Service).

In the System event log of the server on which the user is logging on the following errors are shown:

Source:        Service Control Manager
Date:          23-12-2014 7:28:01
Event ID:      7011
Task Category: None
Level:         Error
Keywords:      Classic
User:          N/A
Description:

A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the UmRdpService service.

…and after 30 (or sometimes 60) seconds, the same error only another service (in random order):

A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the UmRdpService service.

…and after exactly 30 seconds, the same error only another service:

A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the UxmSms service.

etcetera, with the following errors:

A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the Netman service.

A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the AudioEndPointBuilder service.

A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the WPDBusEnum service.

A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the NlaSvc service.

The Portable Device Enumerator Service service failed to start due to the following error:
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the TrkWks service.

A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the UmRdpService service.

These errors are logged continuously.

An administrator cannot solve this since he isn't able to login in as well (console or remotely), only a hard reset of the VM is possible to use the affected server again.

I took different steps to solve this problem without any success, like:

- Installing the latest Windows updates
- Removed unnecessary printer drivers, print monitors and print processors (no local printers/drivers are installed, only Remote Desktop Easy Printer driver is used)
- Searched different forum posts, but found only hotfixes for Windows Server 2008 R2.

Can someone please help me with this annoying problem?

Many thanks!!

EDIT:
Of course is increasing the time-out not really an option here... http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/13765.event-id-7011-service-timeout.aspx

Clients Dropping connection via Thin client to new 2016 terminal server

$

We just installed two new vmware 2016 standard servers.  One is setup as DC and the other a TS.  There are 30 dell wyse 5070 thinOS thin clients that users are using to connect in to the TS using new 8 Cisco AP (1852) with a new 3504 Cisco WLC.

From day 1 there have been problems with the thin clients dropping their connection to the TS and having to reconnect back in.  The common cause is when using Google maps or anything that uses graphics, which they use quite a bit for dispatching employees.  The screen will freeze up on the RDP session itself, and they will kick back out to the thin client desktop.  At the time of the disconnect we have noticed that the wireless on the thin clients disassociate with the Access point, and then re-associates.  Our first though was that the problem was with the newly installed Cisco AP's, but that was ruled out when we were not able to reproduce the problem from a laptop using wireless.

I have changed some group policy settings on the terminal server and set RDP compression to "Optimized to use less network bandwidth" and RDP Experience to "Optimized for minimum bandwidth usage".  This has helped somewhat.  We went from users dropping ever 5-10 minutes, to now maybe 4-5 drops total across all users per day.  The problem with these settings is that now users are having a hard time with the graphics performance.  Moving windows around is laggy, maximizing and minimizing windows is slow to refresh, and lots of pixilation.

I currently have a ticket open with Dell to look into these issues as far as the thin clients go, but they are being less then helpful.

Surface users being asked for Creds when opening apps via RemoteApps

Hello,

We have a couple of users in IT using Surface pro's.

When connecting to apps via RemoteApps they get a security pop up....

"The Credentials that were used to connect to "Server name" did not work. Please enter new credentials.

It has the correct user name already. and if i enter the password then it connects fine.

If connecting to apps on a windows 10 or windows 7 laptop we get no security pop up the app just opens up as expected.

It's only on the surface.

Not sure why this is just happening on the Surface?

How to add Remote Desktop Session Hosts from another forest ?

$

Hello,

We have an RDS Farm 2016 (Web+Broker+4 RDSH) in Forest A and we need to add two moreRemote Desktop Session Hosts from Forest B, in order to create a dedicated collection for these two hosts. We have a bidirectional external trust between the forests.

I can add the two servers from forest B in server management but when I try the wizard for adding new RDSH, it fails. So I tried the same using PowerShell :

Add-RDServer -Server TSXX11.forestB.lan -Role RDS-RD-SERVER -ConnectionBroker TSBBBB11.forestA.lan

But I face the following error (translated):

WinRM can not process the request. The following error occurred while using
Kerberos authentication: Can not find the computer
TSXX11.forestB.lan.Verify that the computer exists

Does anyone have an idea ?

My 2 ADM remote desktop access work fine but I need 10 TS clients.

Can you tell me the procedure to install the terminal services if some one does not want to have an Active directory (domain)

Thank you

RDS 2016 RemoteApp – Orphaned session

We seem to have new issue developing with multiple users now reporting the problem.

It seems very similar to the many RemoteFX issue that have been experienced over the last year and wondering whether a recent windows 10 update has caused this.

Connecting directly to the users computer the remoteapp seems to be running but nothing happens visually when trying to use the app/no reaction to mouse or keyboard input.

At the same time, shadowing the app from the backend, it look to be running normally.

If we Control the session is can be used normally but nothing we do is being relayed to the client. To them the app is sitting on the same screen as it was when it stopped accepting input.

It is like RemoteApp clients has lost its connection but still thinks its connected; very weird.

We are within Azure so there are factors such as Accelerated Networking and Azure Load Balancers but just wondering if other may have seen this behavior of late.

Remote Desktop Services has taken too long to load the user configuration from server Event ID 20499

I keep getting Event ID 20499 "Remote Desktop Services has taken too long to load the user configuration from server \\SERVERNAME for user USERNAME" in our event logs for multiple servers that are running 2012 R2

I noticed that when this happens the user often is missing items that get applied via group policies such as desktop wallpapers and mapped drives.

I am also using the Microsoft Remote Desktop for Mac that was release yesterday on another Mac computer and for certain users it won't launch the redirected folder that I specified when I get this Event ID 20499

RDS 2016 - TLS 1.2 Supported on Connection Broker Connections?

$

Okay, we currently have an RDS 2016 Configuration, with the following:

- 1 x RDS 2016 License Manager server

- 2 x RDS 2016 Gateway/Web Access servers

- 2 x RDS 2016 Connection Broker servers

- 4 x RDS 2016 Session Host servers (2 x Session Hosts on load-balanced servers)

The RDS 2016 Connection Broker server is configured in High Availability Mode, and stores it's database on a SQL 2016 Cluster. The initial setup doesn't allow you to specify SQL 2016 *until* you later configure CB to be in High Availability Mode, so it's my understanding that it initially uses a WID (Windows Internal Database) and continues to do so even after configuring High Availability Mode?

Is there any way of "removing" the dependency between the CB and WID, as this TechNet Article seems to suggest that TLS 1.2 can't be configured if WID is involved in the installation?

https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/help/4036954/disabling-tls1-0-can-cause-rds-connection-broker-or-rdms-to-fail

The reason for asking this, is that we configured the SCHANNEL registry settings to disable everything apart from TLS 1.2, and this broke the connection between RDS and the Connection Broker. The only way to "recover" this was to re-enable TLS 1.0 (TLS 1.1 didn't work).

Any ideas appreciated.

Many thanks.

Missing UPD template disk from RDS deployment

I think I am missing the template UPD VHD from our 2012r2 RDS deployment

Existing users are ok but all new users are getting temp profiles. I looked in the share where the UPD <g class="gr_ gr_203 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Grammar multiReplace" data-gr-id="203" id="203">are</g> defined and it looks like someone has accidentally deleted the template disk.  Is there any way I can recreate this without disrupting the RDS farm?

I don't have backups of the location where the profile UPD's are stored

thanks

Hi

Got an issue with the New-RDSessionDeployment cmdlet when running it via an PSSession, the cmdlet is executed but returns an error. FYI the cmdlet works perfectly locally on the 2016DSC01 server... ?

RDP scaling not passed Windows 10 to Server 2012 R2

$
0
0

I have a Windows 10 client and a Server 2012R2 server. The client is set to 1920x1080 at 125%. In the past, whenever I connected via RDP, the session automatically went to 125%, regardless of the resolution (I sometimes use 1024x768, or other resolutions), just like it is supposed to. In the last few weeks, it has suddenly stopped doing this. I've tried different accounts, making sure I logged off the Server session (not just disconnected), changing the resolution and magnification on the client, and trying different Server 2012 R2 servers. Nothing works. I really don't want to do some of the manifest solutions that others talk about.

It is almost as if an update to either the server or the client has broken this.

Is there some way of diagnosing this? Is there a log of the connections, that would tell me what the client says it is, so I can see if the client isn't reporting the scale factor, or the server isn't paying attention?

Does anyone else have a suggestion, or is anyone else noticing this issue?

Thank you.
