RDS 2012 - HTTP & UDP Gateway Connections Reset
Hi
I have a single Windows 2012 R2 RDS server, which acts as all the RDS roles, including RD Gateway.
I also have an Windows 2012 R2 IISARR server setup to reverse proxy 443 connections to the server, and have port 3391 open on our firewall to allow UDP connections.
In short, if I connect using an RDP 8 client, I get three connections as expected. One HTTP and two UDP. If I connect using an RDP 7 client, I get one RPC-HTTP connection, again as expected.
The problem is that whereas the RPC-HTTP connection is stable, the HTTP & UDP connections disconnect every 2-5 minutes. The client screen goes black and a Reconnect Attempt 1/20 windows is displayed. Each time though the connection re-establishes itself and the session is not reset.
In the gateway manager, monitoring page, you can witness these connections disconnecting and re-connecting. It's very puzzling. The event logs acknowledge the disconnect, stating reason 0.
On the Windows 8 clients, I've tried the recent hotfix 2897602 and tried turning off Windows Location Services. But that doesn't help.
I've read a lot about UDP and RDP8, with some saying it doesn't work properly and that you should turn it off. However, I have it turned on as I was having problems scrolling PDF files in the remote session, which the UDP connections fixed.
Any help with this would be much appreciated. I've done so much research and spent so much time on it...
Thanks
Andrew
RDP has been disabled on ALL servers
On Friday I came into work and all my servers had remote desktop disabled. This also included my terminal servers.
There is no GPO for this. So group policy is out.
I thought maybe a patch went out but could not locate any information on this.
Has anyone else had any issues with RDP being disabled on their servers?
This includes Windows 2003, 2008, 2012.
Manually re-enabling them was my solution.
RDWeb license grace period after installing license server
2012 (not R2) RDWeb
So I ran through my grace period and then added a licensing server. Now it appears that I am in another grace period (I haven't entered CAL's yet). How long is this second grace period?
TIA!
Delegate permissions Server 2012 R2 RDS environment
Fellow IT Pro's
I've been asked to give a certain user permissions to logoff sessions on the session host server, and I'm unable to find the procedure of delegating this (these) permission(s) to this user (group).
I can't imagine this not being able to configure, but I just can't find it.
Thanks in advance.

Windows Server 2012 Standard - Remote Desktop Management service won't start
Dear colleges, I'm seeking your help in resolving a weird issue with Remote Desktop.
The Remote Desktop Management service gives the following error message any time it is attempted to start:
"The Remote Management Service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs."
The Event Viewer error message is as follows:
"The Remote Desktop Management service failed to start. Error code: 0x88250001"
Whenever I connect to the server with RD I get error message that the Remote Desktop Licensing Server isn't configured and that the RD trill will expire in N-days. The server is up to date updates wise and has been licensed for 5 RD CALs. The server hosts DNS
server and has AD DS role installed, is virtualized to have one Hyper-V server.
I read some blogs about having both DNS and AD DS on one box is a bad sea and a root cause of the issue. Well, that very well may be, but for me that's an option as I'm not going to get a box to just host DNS. There should a solution to this as I shouldn't
only one suffering from this issue.
I also read about KB2871777 - Servicing stack update supposedly addressign this issue. Well, it's on my system and the issue is there too. :)
Will I loose ability to RD when the trial expires or it's just another misleading MS message that can be ignored?
How do I mend Remote Desktop Management service to start?
Appreciate your help!
User Profiles Redirection
Hello!
I have around 30 Terminal Servers in my environment and want to shift the user profiles on all the servers to a single location at my SAN without any cached user profile folders at all Terminal Servers. In this way, if I have to delete user profile of a specific user, I will not be doing it on every server. Help Required.
Server stucks at Applying Computer Settings after every reboot
Hello!
On one of our sites containing around 15 servers, whenever a terminal server is rebooted, it gets stuck on Applying Computer Settings for around 15 minutes. If it is un-joined from the domain then no issue. Moreover, once it is done with this delay, no time delay is observed in user login. But after every reboot, 15 - 20 mins delay is always observed. Domain is the same at other sites and no issue is being observed else where.

This computer can’t connect to the remote computer
We created one RemoteApp on Windows 2012 R2 and that worked fine. Now, after we added another RDS on another Windows 2012 R2, we can’t access to these two RDS servers. using rdp Here are the details:
- When attempting to access it using RDP, we get this message: This computer can’t connect to the remote computer. We have tried a couple computers and all of them have the same issue.
2. Telnet RDS server port 3389 works. If I run mstsc/admin I can login the RDS server
3. The RDS server has Event ID 802: Remote Desktop Connection Broker Client failed while getting redirection packet from Connection Broker.
User : administrator
Error: Element not found.
4. If I remove the RDS from the server, I can RDP into the server.
5. After I re-add RDS role, I can’t login RDS server using RDP.
All domain users are in remote desktop group.

RWW replacement
The client is running Windows EBS 2008 and planning to upgrade to Windows 2012 R2 standard (not EBS). They love RWW. If they have Windows 2012 R2 (not EBS), what’s the option for the users to access their desktop in LAN?
VPN + RDP could be an option, but they want a simple solution. Any suggestions?

Windows server 2008 R2 RDS RD Connection Broker issue over PPTP VPN
I've been attempting to finish an RDS farm started by someone else. Seems it works fine within our network. The process I use:
1. open RDP and put in the FQDN companyRDP.company.com
2. Login screen and get onto one of the three session hosts.
When doing the same process from a PPTP VPN FQDN companyRDP.company.com opens the actual RDS Gateway/Connection Broker server, never redirects users to any of the three session hosts. In the RDP window, if i put one of the session host name/ip they will connect to the host but the rdp session is blacked out (Another issue I have been troubleshooting).
I'm at a loss at the moment. Seems like they need to add something in their firewall or DNS. If I ping FQDN companyRDP.company.com from local or over their VPN it does resolve to the same IP, which is the RDS Gateway/Connection broker server.
Any Help out there?
Windows Server 2012 - Can't select Virtual Templates
Hello,
I have created a single server that hosts all the services I need. The server is for a College Project and isn't intended to be used fully. When i attempt to create a virtual desktop collection using the wizard, after choosing the collection type I am unable to choose a virtual desktop template.
On Hyper-V I have created a Windows 7 and a Windows 8.1 Desktop, both of these machines were set-up then syspreped with the Generalize option selected.
The RDS deployment has all the role services installed. The RD connection broker has permission to create virtual desktops on the Computers OU.
If it is any help. The server has the following services installed :
- AD DS
- DHCP
- DNS
- File and Storage Services
- Hyper-V
- IIS
- NAP
- Remote Desktop Services
Thank you for reading over my situation, any help would be greatly appreciated.
RemoteApp Loses Focus - RemoteApp Window Drops Behind All Open Windows
Hi,
We have setup RD RemoteApp using Windows 2008 R2 for several applications within the company.
The programs that run as a RemoteApp on a client disappear, irregular. The connection to the AppServer is still active and visible in the task bar.It is just another program, which previously was located in the background, brought to the fore (eg Excel, Word, etc.).If programs are minimized, our RemoteApp is of immediate importance and it can be worked on directly.
If all other programs are minimized, and only the RemoteApp is in the maximized, the problem does not occur.
Thus, it appears that the focus is lost on the RemoteApp.Windows then puts the last used window to front.
This is happening on Windows 7 and XP Professional workstations. I have applied all updates to the servers andinstalled RDP 7.0 on the XP machines and RDP 8.1 on the Windows 7 workstations. I have also applied Hotfix KB 967885 on an XP machine but have not determined if this has worked yet. If it does, great! But this hotfix is only for XP and Vista. I still need a solution for the Windows 7 computers.
I have read the other threads but none of the suggestions have worked.
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

RD Gateway won't allow me to configure certificates
Hi
I have set up a new network with one server running ADDS, DNS & DHCP (ie set up as a DC) and another with RDS. As far as I can see the DC is running fine. I have installed Remote Desktop on the second server and that has installed ok. However, when I go to configure the Certificates the RD Gateway is greyed out and it will not allow me to enter a certificate.
Both servers are connected to a router with port forwarding set up for the external fixed IP on 3389 to redirect to the server.
Really need help to understand what I have done wrong?
RemoteApp and Desktop Connection "Reconnect to RD WebAccess" errors
I have a Server 2008R2 with RDS setup on our network for 7 users. We have a seperate RDSH server holding the RemoteApp programs. The users all have Windows 7 x64 bit computers and they VPN into our internal network from home and once they are in, they can access the RemoteApps via the webfeed. All applications show up correctly and display properly when clicking on them in the Start Menu and under RemoteApp and Desktop Connections menu. If I however go to my system tray and right click on the rdp icon and select the"reconnect to remote desktop web access" I get 4 errors and it doesn't connect. Here are the errors I receive:
There was an error communicating with the endpoint at 'https://servername/RDWeb/Feed/RDWebservice.asmx' The server returned HTTP Status code 404 (0x194) with text 'Not found'. The requested resource was not found.
There was an error communicating with the endpoint at 'https://servername/RDWeb/Feed/RDWebService.asmx'.
There were connectivity issues with the web service. Report this error to your Administrator.
The webfeed address I setup on the 7 client computers is https://servername/RDWeb/Feed/webfeed.aspx.
Why is it not letting us reconnect that way but letting us connect if going through the start menu and/or opening the RemoteApp and Desktop Connections---> View Resources---> Double clicking on the .rdp file?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
RD WebApp Internal and External Access
Hello;
I have RD Session Host, RD Broker and RD Web deployed on LAN with RD Gateway deployed in DMZ - I can access all applications internally using RD WebApp - https://FQDN/RDWeb
I can also connect through external workstation using RDP client providing RD Gateway information under advance tab and connect to any host and verify connection is going through RD Gateway.
Now my question is how can I access RD WebApp from outside the LAN;
- Should I install RD Web on RD Gateway server and both component in DMZ then how will internal users access RD Web - will they go DMZ as well ?
- Or some how install different RD Web Servers - One for Internal and One for external
Any suggestion is much appreciated.
