I have a RemoteApp program that assembles documents for printing, calls Adobe Reader and prints the docs. I have Adobe Reader XI as a RemoteApp program and the documents will print to the user's local printer (network and local installs). The issue I am having is the time to spool the documents. Ten to twenty minutes per document. GPO is defaulting to Easy Print, installed the Print Server role, installed drivers for the HP M2727nf printers on the server. Thoughts?

Remote Desktop Services - Printing Preferences
Hi All,
I've disabled EasyPrint via gpo on our RDS server and users printers are redirecting using the correct Konica Driver.
However the default printing preferences from both the print server and local user preferences are not being directed. Users can change the printing preferences however they are lost once they logoff.
Any ideas on how I might resolve this?
Cheers

RemoteApp and RD Gateway on Server 2012 and iPad
Does anyone know an iPad app that can open RemoteApp on server 2012 (may be present icons in a similar way to the RD Web Access, where a user can pick one from the list) and that definitely works through RD Gateway 2012?
Thank you in advance
Lync VDI Plugin pairing problems from a Windows 7 machine to Session Host 2012
Hello,
I'm hoping someone can shed a light here with a problem we're having with the Lync VDI Plugin. A Lync client 2013 installed on a RD Session Host won't pair with the Lync VDI plugin installed on a Windows 7 local PC.
We have deployed a Session Virtualization scenario on the following Servers:
- RD Session Host (Windows Server 2012): this is a virtual Hyper-V machine where we have installed Office 2013 and Lync client 2013 - 32 bits. The Lync client version is 15.0.4420.1017.
- RD Connection Broker (Windows Server 2012): virtual Hyper-V machine
- RD Web Access (Windows Server 2012): virtual Hyper-V machine
Also:
- We have Lync Server 2013 on another Server.
- We have User Profile Disk enabled.
The description for our local PC is:
- Windows 7 SP1 32 bits
- Office 2010 32 bits (Lync Client 2010 was uninstalled)
- Lync VDI Plugin 32 bits: We deployed it following every step detailed
here
- Polycom CX300 USB phone
- RDP 8.0 Update: Every prerequisite for the Lync VDI Plugin was installed, applied and double checked, as mentioned
here. This means we installed the DTLS udpate, the RDP 8.0 update, we enabled RDP 8.0 on the Local Group Policy Editor, and verified it with connection quality button. We also have ensured that EnableMediaRedirection is set to TRUE for all
VDI users on our Lync 2013 Server.
THE PROBLEM: When the user access the RD Session Host, Lync 2013 starts but the pairing process with the Lync VDI Plugin never ends. The Lync status bar shows no red "x" or green check, it just keeps on trying and if you click it
it says something like "Lync is trying to use your local audio and video devices". The Lync settings for Audio Devices => "Speaker" shows "Remote Audio" and the same for "microphone".
We tried the troubleshooting instructions
here with no success.
Some things to have in mind:
- This happens only with Windows 7 on local PCs. When we connect to the Session Host with a Windows 8 local PC, the Lync VDI pairing process works just fine!! (green check on the status bar). The Polycom phone is instantly recognized and
audio calls are smooth. This tells us that our servers configuration should be correct.
- The local PCs connect through the Web Access server's web interface, in other words through the Connection Broker.
Please, your help will be greatly appreciated. As far as we know Windows 7 SP1 is supported when using a Lync phone on virtual sessions.

Server 2012 RDS problems
Hi I installed Server 2012 and added RDS rolle, quick config. Locally I can Access but since I have Gateway that is used for Server 2008 so that apps are visible over insternet, when I try to add new Server 2012 on Webpage Remote Desktop Services Default Connection, I receive following error message.
RD Web Access was not able to access Computername. Verify that the computer account of the RD Web Access server is added to the TS Web Access. Computers security group on the RD Session Host server.
Now this error message would be really helpfull if I had a Group named TS Web Access on my Server.
I have it on old Server 2008 and even by adding this Server 2012 there makes no difference.
I installed Server 2012 and noticed that randomly when I install RDS sometimes I can add to this Webpage (and even then my published apps are not listed) , or I am not even able to add my Server !
Please help this is started to be really painfull.
I wanted also to ask if someone can tell me what is exactely created in IIS. Which webapps. I have Default Website with RDweb webapp. and nothing more.
Any Ideas how to repair this ??
Thanks

When trying to connect to the RemoteApp on Web Access through Gateway Server, a client from DomainB.com the following problem: a window "connect to the application" "hangs" 38 seconds.
The analysis of the situation shows that there are two timeouts. Gateway server is trying to "talk" to the domain controllers of DomainB.com, which contains the ClientB.
In Wareshark dump we see, that we have CLADP query from gateway server to domain controllers of DomainB.com
Filter: (&(&(&(DnsDomain=DomainB.com)(Host=S-RDS-GW-01))(NtVer=0x20000016))(DnsHostName=s-rds-gw-01.DomainA.Com))
Such a request, but only to the domain controllers DomainA.com trying to make a client of DomainB.com
Filter: (&(&(&(DnsDomain=DomainA.com)(Host=clientB))(NtVer=0x20000006))(DnsHostName=clientB.DomainB.Com))
If we opened access from Gateway server to the domain controllers in DomainB.com, it is an attempt to obtain a Kerberos TGS
MSG Type: TGS-REQ (12)
padata: PA-TGS-REQ
At that receives a response from the domain controller
MSG Type: KRB-ERROR (30)
error_code: KRB5KDC_ERR_POLICY (12)
Also, if we opened access from gateway to domain controllers DomainB.com, "dialogue" between gateway and domain controllers appeared in a few seconds, and after that the application is opened.
There are a number of questions:
1) why Gateway of DomainA.com server try to access the domain controller of DomainB.com
2) Why ClientB.DomainB.com refers to a domain controller of DomainA.com
3) How can we change this behavior?
ClientB.DomainB.com needs to communicate with servers in a farm just through the RDS gateway on port 443.
P.S. - If the client is in a workgroup, then is no problem.
P.S.S - We have this problem with any application.

Disconnected Sestion Doesn't run Logoff Scripts
We have windows 2008R2 SP1 server with RDS installed that is running Citrix Xenapp 6.5. We are using a mandatory profile with folder redirection and login and logout script. We are experiencing an issue where when a user’s session is disconnected the Logout script do not run and were are left with Stale user profile folders. This causes issue because we need to manually remove these old folder from the servers weekly.
I have tried installing the following hotfixes but nothing seem to resolve the removal of the profiles.
http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX129229
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2661663/en-us
We also get in the servers Application log
Event 1530 from User Profile Service - Saying Outlook 2010 still has registry handles open
Followed by
Event 1533 from User Profile Service - Saying it can't delete the users profile folder.
I have also Added the GPO from the MS article below but the logoff script and the folder are still not deleted.

HP T410 Smart Zero Client and Remote Desktop Services Web Access not working
All,
I understand that this has been brought up a couple of times already, but I could do with some guidance on which direction I need to go in for a VDI virtualised machine (with RemoteFX) environment setup. I have effectively configured a RDS lab with some managed pooled VM's to test the whole VDI-VM approach. While I can connect fine by using Windows fat clients and remotefx works incredibly well, I do not get no where near as far with the HP T410 smart zero clients. It seems from my research that a couple of people already are hitting this limitation with the RD Web site. I manage to get to the RDWEB site and login with AD credentials using a the HP smart client, but when I click on the VM collection, it gives me a spurious error that it is unable to connect on port "" and then bombs out. I have tried a direct rdp configuration using the HP profile editor, but that attempts a direct connection to the RDCB, which the user does not have access to. What frustrates me a little is that HP sell this kit based on it working in VDI environments, yet it fails at the first hurdle when I attempt to connect to a pooled VM collection on Server 2012. There doesn't seem to be a way to configure the free RDP 7.1 compatible program via HP profile manager either like you would with a .RDP file on windows.
Do I need to look at an alternative piece of thin client? has anybody got this to work with a different piece of kit? if so please let me know.
Thanks
RemoteApp not moving between monitors
Hello,
I am well aware that there are many questions on this exact issue, but none of them seem to apply to my situation.
I had created a RemoteApp for an application using a server running 2008 R2. All users of this RemoteApp were able to move the application from one monitor to the next without issue.
A problem occurred with the 2008 R2 server and I had to use another server to host the application. This server was running Server 2008 SP2 (NOT R2). Since creating the RemoteApp on this server, users are unable to move the application between monitors.
I have seen these instructions below, all of which are met, and users are still unable to move the RemoteApp between screens.
1. The primary monitor must be leftmost
2. The set of monitors must form a rectangle (i.e. identical vertical resolution, and lined up in exact straight line)
3. The total union of the resolutions must be below 4096x2048 (ex. 1600x1200+1600x1200 = 3200x1200)
Does anyone know a solution for this?
Remote Web Access (RWA) "This organization's certificate has been revoked." How do I get a certificate? No remote website certificate in the Personal folder nor the Trusted Authority CA folder (certmgr.msc).
Windows Server 2012 Essentials. Domain. I setup Anywhere Access using the Dashboard, which set up the remote website. I was able to access the remote website initially without any problems immediately after Anywhere Access set it up. The next day I started getting certificate warnings when I accessed the website. I did a repair using Anywhere Access setup and that didn't help. Then I went into Anywhere Access setup again and selected Configure (rather than repair) and selected the option to keep my domain name. That fixed the problem for about 24 hours, but then I started getting "This organization's certificate has been revoked." I checked my certificates (using certmgr.msc), and there used to be two GoDaddy's certificates for the remote website setup by Anywhere Access (with expirations three to four years out) in the Personal folder just after Anywhere Access was first set up. Now the Personal folder is empty. I checked the Trusted Root CA folder, and there is no certificate for the Anywhere Access remote website. WHAT DO I DO NOW? (I've spent about 20 hours trying to fix this, and nothing is working. Just FYI, the Default Web Site has not changed from the initial server setup. I mention this only because this problem is similar to one others have been having, and they were able to resolve their problem by putting the default web site name back to "Default Web Site". Others have reported problems with Microsoft not recognizing the GoDaddy certificate. Those kinds of certificate problems seem to be on-going for many Windows Server 2012 users. However, because I don't have a certificate any more, my problem is different.)
Let me also add that when I change IE->Internet Options->Advanced->Security settings to not checked for revoked certificates, I get access to the remote website.
I would make another certificate request, but I've never done that without having actually purchased a certificate. How do I get request a copy of my original certificate when I don't know how to access the certificate on GoDaddy AND I don't have a copy of the certificate on my server????
Local printing not working, Server 2008 R2(no error message, nothing happens)
Hi all,
One of my clients has 6 remote locations, each with 2 systems at each location which connect to the main office using RDS. I have just upgraded both the systems (from XP pro to Win7 pro 64bit), and the printers to small HP laserjet 1102. Since I upgraded, when I attempt to print locally, and absolutely nothing happens.
The local printer driver is installed on the server, remote desktop group policy settings have been configured.
I can use logmein to connect to one of the computers, use RDS to log on to the server, and print to MY local printer (Canon laserjet via logmein).
It seems like a driver issue with the new printers, but I ran out of things to try.
Obviously the printers at the remote locations all work fine in Windows, just not while connected to RDS.

We are migrating our Domain to Server 2012 from 2003. Currently we have a 2003 TS Licensing server and I need to move the licenses to our 2012 server. I have all the info I need to move the licenses such as agreement numbers, etc. Here is my question. I know I can call the clearing house to do the deactivation of the old server and the reactivation of the new server but I did stumble acrosshttps://activate.microsoft.com to move licenses as well. Has anybody out there used this and if so, did you have have any difficulty while using this site? Also, although it seems straight forward on the site does anyone have a beeter set of instructions other than the 1 paragraph on the landing page?
Thanks
Russ
Windows 2012 Remote Desktop Services ""Your computer can't connect to the remote computer because the Remote Desktop Gateway server is temporarily unavailable"
RDP server in drain mode is receiving connections from broker
RDP farm member is set to deny new connection but reconnect existing, drain mode, but clients connect and it seems the load balancer is routing requests to it. Clients see the "remote connections are disabled" message in the rdp session. Upon 4th and or 5th try they may get directed to a new session.
External F5 load balancer, token redirection, external IP set in broker settings on farm members.
Cannot connect with RDP gateway after server move

Windows XP SP3 producing 'unexpected server authentication certificate' error connecting to RemoteApp
Hi
I’m looking for some help.
My problem is exactly the same as that posted by Jeff Rodgers in this post:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/winserverTS/thread/6f29bc2f-5290-426c-a617-f6fbaab9ba9f (Connecting XP to server 2008 (not R2) using RDP broken after KB969084 update installed.)
I have a Windows 2008 R2 server running remote desktop services. The environment that remote sessions are required for is only small here, so all the following roles are insatlled on the same server (let’s call it ‘rds.local’):
Remote Desktop Connection Broker
Remote Desktop Gateway
Remote Desktop Licensing
RemoteApp and Desktop Connection Management
Remote Desktop Server
The‘rds.local’ server has an external certificate purchased from Digicert, with the common name‘rds.external.com’
This certificate is specified in IIS, Remote App Manager, and Remote Session Host Configuration.
All works fine and very smoothly in Windows 7. Clients can connect to‘https://rds.external.com/rdweb’, log on and choose a RemoteApp without having to retype their password. In short, everything as expected including SSO.
It’s a different story for WinXP SP3 though (although SSO also works). These clients have RDP6.1 and CredSSP installed and are fully updated via our WSUS server. Loading a RemoteApp for example only works if I switch the certificate used in Remote Desktop Session Host to ‘Auto Generated’. If I use the rds.external.com certificate from Digicert, Windows XP users get the following error:
‘The connection has been terminated because an unexpected server authentication certificate was received from the remote computer.’
The problem is, as Jeff Rodgers put it:
“The Windows XP SP3 Computers balk at the certificate with "connection has been terminated because an unexpected server authentication certificate was received from the remote computer" Windows 7 and Vista computers work flawlessly in this configuration (Single Sign on). By using the default auto-generated certificate in Remote Session Host Configuration, this prompts certificate warnings to Vista and Windows 7 clients but allows Windows XP Sp3 clients to connect (again with cert warnings but they can click connect).”
So although I have a solution that works, I don’t like the certificate warnings I’m left with (especially on Windows 7 as I know it can work perfectly). I’ve been working on this problem for some time now and have explored lots of avenues. But now I’ve reached a point where I’ve ran out of ideas and I’m thinking that it’s a fundamental problem with XP SP3. But surely there’s a reason behind this…
Any ideas?

RDWeb- access a folder on another server and allow cut and paste from local machine
I have Windows 2012 RDweb deployed and working for notepad and a custom program.
What I want to do now is to create a 'windows explorer' experience for only certain accounts to be able to cut and paste from their local desktop to the windows explorer folder.
I created a bat file that runs:
explorer \\non-rdweb-servername\folder
the folder appears successfully on the client machine when clicking the icon on the RDWEB site. the issue is that the user can not cut and paste files from their local machine to the server folder.
I know how to make the icon only accessible to certain user accounts, and those accounts have full access to the folder.
When the bat file is initialized from RDweb, and the details are looked at, access to clipboard is checked.
Any ideas on how to make this work?
thanks.
