Hello Microsoft,

RDS 2019 should support the webcam feature but the isn't at the moment.

I've read some microsoft threads and can we support webcam on our RDS enviroment without to make changes on the client side?

we have tried some solutions:

- local GPO webcam enabled

- Domain GPO webcam enabled

- Webcam redirection RDS enabled

- Windows 10 privacy webcam enabled

Is there something i've missed?

Deploying RDS 2016

Hi everybody,
i am searching for quite a while now. I dont find a guide that fits my target solution.
Ideal solution:
1 Server as Session Broker / Web-Access (i dont want to use Web-Access)
2 Server as Session Hosts

The user should be Load Balanced between the two Session Hosts.

My Problem:
Some guides are with DNS Round Robin and others say to use the Session Broker as DNS entry.
DNS Round Robin: on redirection the user sometimes have to enter the password a second time.
DNS Session Broker: connection denied. the session broker is not redirecting the login.

Any advice how i can get the session broker to redirecting rdp connections?

- 3 servers are added at "all server" in server manager

thank you in advance.

RD Connection Broker

Hi guys,

I have built a new 2016 RDS environment. 2 RD session hosts. 1 RD connection Broker. 2 RD Gateway servers. We are using RDS desktops, we will be using the RDP client to connect. Currently the RDS client settings are pointing to the RD gateway and also the RDS farm DNS name.

When I connect I get connected to one of the RDS hosts. Which to me seems right?

My question is, should the RDP client be pointing to the RD connection broker rather than the RDS farm? If I point it to the RD connection broker I just land there and don't get sent to a RD session server. I think I might be missing a step or not fully understand how the connection broker works?

Incorrect server configured on RDP client

Hi

Platform: Server 2016 Remote Desktop Server

VM Server 1: Connection Broker
VM Server 2: Gateway and RD Web App
VM Server 3: Session Host

We have a RDS collection which is working well. However when recently moving to publish the RDP connector in RD Web we have found on download, it is configured to connect to the Connection Broker andnot the Session Host. The connector cannot be edited either.

Not sure what to do from here..

Many Thanks

Outlook password prompt

Hi there

I am having an issue with being prompted for a password multiple times when accessing different profiles in Outlook on my remote desktop server.

I access multiple email accounts through different Outlook profiles, when accessing the different profiles i sometimes get a variety of different error messages such as

Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. The information store could not be opened,

-Outlook cannot log on. Verify you are connected to the network and are using the proper server and mailbox name. The Microsoft Exchange Information service in your profile is missing required information. Modify your profile to ensure that you are using the correct Microsoft Exchange information service.

-Trying to connect – need password.........and then just kicks us out without giving the ability to input a password.

Sometimes I am prompted for a password and when inputted it allows me no issues but other times it does not prompt for a password and i get these errors. Can you suggest what can be the cause and what i can do?

software versions are Windows Server 2016 Standard version 10.0.14393 and Outlook 2016 version 16.0.12730.20342 32-bit

Kind regards

George

Sessions sticking on signing out until server reboot

We are seeing an issue on multiple 2012 R2 servers at the moment where at some point the session begin to stick on signing out. If the user tries to reconnect to the session they get stuck on 'signing out' and can do nothing.

We are unable to end any task the user has open with built in or third party tools. If you click end task under 'users' nothing happens, and if you do it under 'details' it says access is denied.

The user cannot CTRL, ALT + END on that screen.

Currently, the only way we have been able to get the server operational is to reboot. Obviously this isn't ideal as there may be X number of users actively working on the system.

Has anyone seen anything similar or have any ideas?

The RD Session Host server received large number of incomplete connections. The system may be under attack.

Hello,

When working remotely from home, users recently encountered a remote connection error to their computers: "Internal error occurred."

In Event viewer: The RD Session Host server received a large number of incomplete connections. The system may be under attack.

After searching the web and finding no way, I turn to you for help

Thanks in advance

RemoteApp RDS2019 - splash screens stuck on client

$

Hi!

I am testing RDS 2019 with RemoteApp, and I have problems with startup splash screens. Each splash screen creates a button on the client’s taskbar and does not disappear from desktop and taskbar after the appearance of the main window. For example, I run three RemoteApp and I have three splash screens and three program windows on my desktop. And even if I close these windows, the splash screens will still remain on desktop and cannot be closed. This happens only in RemoteApp and does not occur with a remote desktop mode. I tried to recreate an RDS farm again, but it does not help.

This does not happen with all programs (having splash screen), but with many. At the same time, there were no such problems at RDS 2012R2/2016.

As RDCB and RDSH used Windows Server 2019 with latest cumulative update (2019-01). As clients used Windows 10 1709/1809 with same update.

Shared Printer Keeps Disappearing - Installed on RDS Server from Local PC

Hello there,

Here is the setup. I have a user who is working remotely. She uses remote desktop for one of her database-heavy applications. Unfortunately this application has trouble printing to redirected printers, and can only print to shared or local printers. This is per the company that provides our tech support for the application (NCR CounterPoint), so we have a local USB printer installed on her local computer. It is shared from the local computer and then installed on her profile on the remote desktop server.

She connects back to the office over a VPN. The remote desktop server is located back at the office. Her internet connection is fairly fast and reliable. Average ping time from my PC at the office to her PC at home is about 53ms. I originally suspected the internet connection, but I'm not totally convinced that's that problem. We have plenty of other users set up the same way on the same server, and they don't have this problem.

Through troubleshooting, it's seems that the shared printer can take a few minutes to show up in the Devices and Printers of her profile on the remote desktop server. Other times, it never shows up at all. No matter how long she leaves the session open. I have tried reinstalling the shared printer on her profile on the remote desktop server and sometimes will receive an error message that says something like, "Unable to connect to printer". I will restart the print spooler on both her computer and the remote desktop server, but this doesn't seem to make a difference.

I've even tried making her a local admin on the RDS server and sometimes this will allow me to reinstall the printer. Sometimes I will still get the same error message. I have dug through the event logs of both the server and her computer, but can't find anything that indicates what might be causing this to happen.

I've had her gracefully sign out of the RDS session by going to "Start -> Sign Out", as opposed to just disconnecting it. It doesn't seem to make a difference. She also uses a Remote App for one of her other applications, so I'm not sure if this is conflicting with her RDS session in some way. Again, we have other users set up this way and they seem to be fine.

The main issue is that the shared printer from her local computer installed on the RDS server just doesn't show up sometimes, and then she can't print. When it does show up, it stays there the whole time until she closes the RDS session. The next time she opens it, the printer may or may not appear.

She is using Windows 10 Pro 64-bit. The server is Windows Server Standard 2016 64-bit.

Any ideas?

Thank you!

Remote Desktop Services successfully left a farm on the Connection Broker server

$

Hello Experts,

Greetings!

I am dealing with a client who has Windows server 2019 with quick start deployment (All RDS roles are on single server).

When server comes up from a reboot daily (during maintenance window etc), intermittently users will not be able to RDP into the machine.

When checked, found below events:

Event ID - 1283 : Remote Desktop Services successfully left a farm on the Connection Broker server Server.Domain.Local.

Event ID - 1280 : Remote Desktop Services failed to join the Connection Broker on server Server.Domain.Local. Error: Current async message was dropped by async dispatcher, because there is a new message which will override the current one.

Event ID - 1281 : Remote Desktop Services successfully joined a farm on the Connection Broker server Server.Domain.Local.

Sometimes, Admin has to manually restart "Remote Desktop Services" service to make the RDP work again.

At this point, client has a script which triggers restart of RDS service when ever it identifies event ID 1283.

Any idea what could cause this issue ?

Any help is appreciated!

Question Black screen RDP and then stuck at configuring remote session

$

This is my last attempt to resolve the issue, before I throw this server out of the window.

This problem is absolutely random and Event viewer is absolutely useless, so as Google results for this case.

I am connecting to my PC via RDP constantly from different computers.
The PC is running on W10 Enterprise 1909. All updated and all updated drivers.

All was working great, till recently it started not to connect from certain computers and to be stuck at "Configuring remote session"
After changing the RDP port to 37879 the problem was resolved, but now very frequently when connecting it will come to a black screen.
Afterwards when trying to connect again it will just be stuck at "Configuring remote session" from any PC.

The PC will be stuck completely, also when trying to access it physically. Restart helps. Then this happens again, absolutely randomly.
Happened also that the connection froze and when trying to reconnect it would come to a black screen and then same issue again..

Please help, give me any direction what to check..

Thanks in advance!

RDGateway Pluggable Authorization | Local Drive not available

Hi,

I am using RDGateway Pluggable Authorization for multi factor authentication using below sample-

https://github.com/microsoftarchive/msdn-code-gallery-community-m-r/tree/master/Remote%20Desktop%20Gateway%20Pluggable%20Authentication%20and%20Authorization%20Sample

Everything works fine. But the local drives of client machine are not available in RDP machine when used pluggable RDGateway Authorization.

Done all the configuration necessary to allow local drive to be shared.

1. In Rdp file ->Local Devices and Resources.

2. Allow all device redirection in Connection Authorization policy.

While with native RDGAuthorization, it's working fine. I can access the Local Drive of client machine in RDP machine.

Can anyone please help, what am I doing wrong?

how to notice Licencing error in windows

$

I am working on a project about how to detect licencing error in RDP. I have already studied RDP standard and then tried to write a program to read all packet data transferred from port 3389. At first I had plan to work on security header to see when licencing error flag is sending by server but as in windows all messages after primary negotiation are sending according to TLS protocol I changed program to consider TLS records as another solution to see whether alert record is sending or not. I tested my program in various windows version such as 7, 8 and 10 but I do not know why it sometimes is not sent. As you know all data will be encrypted after TLS handshaking I do not know how I can recognize when licencing error are happening. I know some of software are doing this work like RDPguard but I do not know from which protocol they are utilizing. I am wondering if you can help me to solve this problem.
Thank you in advance for your help and time
