I have a RDS 2016 Farm, with 2 CB's and 8 RSH servers. There are 4 collections with 2 RSH in each collection.
The issue is when I connect and launch the .RDP i created for one session collection, all of the other RSH servers are provide as the server holding the .RDP session which of course they are not. the session collection has a set of apps setup on only two servers which are added to the collection (no other RSH are available in the collection)
How do we isolate the RSH/collection from the other RSH/collections so only the servers supporting the .rdp are queued?

Good morning.
We've been experiencing random problems on our RDSH vmware environment. At random times, the audiosrv seems to trouble other applications and makes them not respond anymore, restarting the audio service temporarily fixes the problem. I have made a gpo to restart the audiosrv, but of course this is not a solution.
We are currently on KB4489889 (OS Build 14393.2879)
Hi All,
I have a number of VDI collections in my RDS 2016 deployment, personal desktops each with some base applications and obviously at a specific patch level (eg 1803).
Has anyone established a process to update the personal VD template image (updated apps/new Windows10 patch level) for existing collections?
WSUS will eventually take care of the patch level, but ideally I'd like to keep the template current.
Thanks!
I've got a server that I need to setup for RDS. I have 8x 2.5" bays and I bought 8 1.2 TB 10k rpm 12gb sas drives to use. The raid card is a Dell H730 with 1GB cache.
I am planning on setting up the following in VM's on this server
-RDS Broker with license role
-RDS Host
What would be the best configuration for the hard drives? I was thinking of doing 2 drives in raid 1 for the host and then 6 drives in raid 10 for the VM's to run on. Or would I be better running all 8 drives in raid 10?
Thank you
Unsure if this is the correct forum.
New SErver 2016 RDS Farm. Attempting to use Internet Explorer (11 - fully patched) to access http://farmid_url/rdweb
IE states that Cookies are Disabled.
Cookies are NOT disabled. I have also reset to default, emptied all history, etc.
Any Suggestions?
Hi Guys,
I have a VDI setup on windows 2012 R2 with two server and a HA Broker. Last night we had a slight network issue that down connectivity for 30min.
This morning I have a VDI session that is connected in Active state but I cannot disconnect or logoff the session. If I run it through GUI I get Unable to disconnect Session 0 WTS API Failed.
Looking further into it and running a get-rdUserSession I find the session but it has no UnifiedSessionID. As such I cannot run any of the disconnect-RDUser or Invoke-RDUserlogoff as I have no UnifiedSessionID.
IF I do a get-RDuserSession | FL I can find a sessionID which is 5, but this is not the sesssionID.
Anyone got any idea how I can disconnect / Logoff this session?
Thanks for your time?

Hello,
I've been having an issue connecting to new RDS deployments, either Server 2012R2 or 2016, using the modern client (UWA?).
If I connect to the rdweb site via browser, any browser (Chrome, IE, Edge), I can connect fine w/ the downloaded RDP file, either via the old mstsc client, or the modern client. If I open the modern client and add my deployment as an RDS resource, it adds file, but when I try to connect, it doesn't do anything. Monitoring network traffic, it doesn't even try to connect to the rpcproxy.dll,or even send any packets on the wire to my gateway.
Doing some digging, I see the rdp file is saved in my user profile (C:\Users\#####\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.RemoteDesktop_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\RADC\{9AFF1AD1-C68D-FC28-FA01-4BD806FA43E4}-Committed\Resource) without an extension. If I copy the file from there, give it a .rdp extension, I can also connect with that file via either client.
I also don't appear to be able to add the remote resources, at all, via the IOS RD Client. I haven't tried Mac or Android yet, waiting to stabilize this config, but perhaps that's a separate issue. I don't see it trying to logon or connect to webfeed.aspx on the RDSWeb page at all.
These would all be the lastest iterations of the clients, I just started this whole setup about a week ago. I've tried a standard deployment in 2016, then a quick deployment in 2016, and finally a quick deployment in 2012 R2. I'm familiar with all the cert requirements, etc, I don't think it is any sort of cert issue. I will say the 2012 R2 quick deployment seemed to work OK initially, until I added 2016 session hosts to the deployment, but now I can't say for sure. If needed, I could do another quick deployment to verify.
Any insights would be great. If we can only use rdweb and have users open RDP files I guess we're OK with that, but not ideal.
Thanks!

Hi All.
We purchased from Microsoft 5 License remote desktop Per User but i need help from you to configure server.
My configuration as below
1. Installed Remote desktop licensing and remote desktop session host role
2. Activate the server and insert the license enterprise agreement.
3. Configured the local group policy (Use the specified Remote Desktop license servers - Set the Remote Desktop licensing mode).
but the 5 user are able to connect to the same server that configured as Remote desktop licensing
but if we tried another server only two remote session are allowed
is there any missing step
Thanks

We have a 3 node Windows 2016 RDSH farm with UPD and user redirected folders enabled. After much trial and error we also managed to customise the start menu, exported it to an .xml and redirect all users start menu to this file. This seemed to workfor a few weeks but we are now seeing issues with the pinned tiles disappearing. 9/10 times the pinned tiles do not show but strangley on the odd occasion they do display correctly. There is no obvious pattern to this. It can be for any user on any RDSH server. We have tried deleting a users UPD and redirected appdata but the issue still occurs. We cannot see any errors within the RDSH event logs for this either.
We've seen and tried several methods for configuring start menus for Win10/Win2016. We would like to define a manditory start menu for all users. Is the a simple, tried and tested way of doing this in Win2016 with UPD and user redirected folders enabled?
We run Remote Desktop Services 2016 and have noticed some warnings in the event viewer of our Gateway Web Server.
Log Name: Application2 Windows Server 2012 Standard domain controllers
2 RDS Servers running Windows Server 2012 R2
We also have 2 Broker Servers and 2 Gateway Servers
From time to time we are running into an issue where the AD account logs in to Windows fine...but when it comes to our RDS login screen...some user accounts have issue where they login...see the published apps...click on one....the connection begins to handshake...then
after a few moments we get:
The User Profile Service service failed the sign-in.
User profile cannot be loaded
Can anyone help me to troubleshoot, please?
I can give any more info that is required. There is a file server where their home directories are stored and on the same server...there are roaming profile folders
The RDS servers load balance...sometimes a user would go on to one...then another session they might be on another.
On the users directory of the RDS servers...the particular user account that is getting this issue...we don't see a user account folder for them...it doesn't get created...it just gets...failed the sign-in?
Hello,
Anyone knows the recommended maintenance for RDS Session Host?
Like restart every 1 month, week, etc.
Thanks,

Hi all,
So we are running an RDS environment for our VMWare Horizon, have the CALS etc.
We now need a server that will be confined to a portion of the network, once on this server we can then access a bunch of equipment in a secure area. This server will need to be able to have 3-4 users logged on simultaneously, which regular RDP doesn’t handle (max of 2). Is there a way to tap into the CALS on the RDS server for a couple of licenses?
TIA
Hi all,
2 x 2016 brokers at front of farm, 200 session hosts running 2012 R2.
We are having seemingly random disconnects - and the issue is that we cant find anything in the logs indicating why clients are disconnecting.
The existing articles around about increasing logging dont appear to be applicable. e.g. https://support.microsoft.com/en-my/help/2747656/introduction-to-log-files-that-are-useful-for-troubleshooting-rds-issu
I'm interested in
Turning up RDP logging on certain clients as much as possible
Turning up RDP logging on certain session hosts as much as possible
I dont believe we need to increase logging on the brokers, as the brokers seem to be doing their job correctly.
Can anyone suggest methods for this? unfortunately i cannot put procmon and wireshark on them asll, as there are just too many - and the issue appears to be "random"
i need to move Remote Desktop Services off of Windows Server 2008R2 and onto Windows Server 2016 over the weekend. It's a very basic server. It has just the "Remote Desktop Services" role installed, and the "Remote Desktop Session
Host" and "Remote Desktop Licensing" role services installed. Nothing else is installed related to RDS. The server does exactly one thing. It lets about 10 users log in with remote desktop
connection from their windows desktop and get provided a "remote desktop" that has exactly ONE application on the desktop. They run that ONE application and then log off. While the server is a member of our Active Director domain, the
users are local users (local to the server). I already have built the new Win2016 server and have installed Remote Desktop Services (with only Remote Desktop Licensing and Remote Desktop Session Host installed). I havent done anything else beyond
that. I suspect i will have to do at least a) migrate the user accounts (I dont care if i lose any user profiles as they shouldnt have anything in them of value); b) migrate the licenses. Can anyone help me get started? I have almost zero RDS experience!

Hi to all,
In my environment I have a Windows server 2016 that acts as license manager for some other windows 2016 server and some windows 2019 servers.
The problem is that the Terminal Server Licensing Service keeps failing: sometimes it takes a few days for the services, sometimes it happens after an hour.
When that happens, whenever a user tries to login to one of the TS served by the license manager, he receives messages that says " Remote desktop license Issue: There is a problem with your Remote Desktop license, and you session will be disconnected in 60 minutes. Contact your administrator to fix this problem".
That's the error I see in the event viewer:
Faulting application name: svchost.exe_TermServLicensing, version: 10.0.14393.0, time stamp: 0x57899b1c
