2fa for access anywhere

Hello Support,

 have server 2012 r2 essential.  I have access anywhere set up and using a ssl certificate from Go Daddy.  For security purposes I want to know if one can implement the 2FA for the remote users accessing their computers in the office?  Thanks for your help.

Printers not available using remote desktop connection

Dear Concerns,

We are using Windows 7 for client and they use Remote Desktop Connection to run SAP application on server 2012 that is placed in another location. Our users are connected with that server using dedicated LAN through internet. The problem is we want to share printer and drives during remote desktop session, for this purpose we had make a tick sign on local resources on printers and drives in Remote Desktop Connection application. The drives are available during remote session but printer does not shown there. The model of printers are HP 2015, 2050, 2055, 4042. While these redirect printers are available in local server 2012. Please provide assistance regarding this.

RDS webcleint ssl

I have setup Windows server 2016 with RDS and the new httml5 webclient. Everything works great except when the ssl updates
the client can login but when they try to run app they get a SSl thumbprint error. Clearing the browser cache on the client fixes it.
I am updating the Web SSL and the RDS webaccess, gateway, broker session host and running Import-RDWebClientBrokerCert
any ideas, anyone else having this

Software installation in RD Session Host Farm

Hi guys,

I consider to create a RD Session host farm. Can anyone explain how software installation works if I add several Session Hosts to a collection? Is it necessary to install an application on each server of the collection manually or is there a simpler way to install an application on all hosts at the same time?

Some of our applications are required only by one RDS user or we own only a license for one installation. Is there a way that some users are connected to a specific RD Session host if they login (for example to the one with an installed graphic application)?

RDS topology auto scaling based on on windows 7 image

Hi,

we have a need to scale up and down the RDS topology based on a windows 7 image (which host a unique application).

our goal eventually is turn on a new server which will be created from a standby windows 7 image and once the user logged in to the RDS through the GW he will be directed to this new server.

any automation insight here ?

NLB as Alternative to RD Connection Broker?

We have thin clients that do not support the connection broker method of load balancing (They create a direct connection to the session host, do not listen to the redirect request and require interactive login).  I was wondering if NLB or some other method I am not aware of could be used as an alternative ... I am aware of DNS round-robin, but it is not ideal for our situation.

Edge password prompt when lauching VDI from web access

We have a external facing web access page that our users use to login from home. When launching the VDI using IE it automatically logs the user in with no prompt. When using Edge users get a 'Login Credentials' prompt when launching the VDI.

Anyone else have this and know how to fix.

Microsoft Remote Desktop App & MFA

Hi, 

First time posting. 

I'm currently in the works of setting up a PC for a customer with a W10 Kiosk profile deployed via Intune, it's running the RDP store app in single-app mode. 

I'm experience issues when trying to connect to a test-client through the gateway server, it just seems to loop at "connecting". 

I get to input user credentials and even get the notification to my authenticator app, but after approving the request nothing happens, just says "connecting" until it fails. 

Everything works as supposed if connecting with mstsc.exe. Is the app-version incompatible with Azure MFA?

User Experiencing Lag and Disconnections When on Same Network Hosting RDS Server

Our setup is for remote users to remote in when outside the office and use session-based apps.

I have a user that is now in the office, connected to the same network as the RD host. However, now her remote desktop session seems to lag input for some reason. Mouse clicks and application responses seem extremely delayed. Outside of the network, she says this doesn't seem to happen.

Any ideas?

RDS 2016 - Outlook Ghost Window (Send, reply & forward)

Hi.

See the image.

The the outline (ghost window) in this screenshot is in reality a pop-out Outlook window, for a new mail (send, reply or forward).

RDSH = Windows Server 2016
Clients = Windows 10 (1804, 1809, 1809)

It may affect older versions as well, but we have not tested.

This happens to all users on the server.

Alt+Tab away, then back again fixes the issue. But this is so annoying that it needs to be fixed.

How to enable Outlook 2019 refine search without enabling Search service

Hello,

we have just deployed a new Windows Server 2016 as a RDS session host and installed Office 2019 there. By default Windows Search service is disabled on Windows Server 2016 and above due to its big impact on server performance. That is fine with me but the side effect is that Outlook search tools are greyed out. So Users cannot use these advanced search tools to refine the search results.

The Exchange server is 2016 so the Outlook should use the FAST server search and I think it does but the refine buttons are greyed out.

If I enable the Windows Search service on the RDS server, the buttons are accessible and works. But that is not the solution because the performance needs of that service would kill the server.

Any solution or best practice how to set Outlook search on RDS hosts?

RDS Broker database (RDCms) status "Recovery Pending" after reboots

Got an issue with my Windows Server 2016 Broker. Every time it boots the database goes in "Recovery Pending" and I need to flip it (take offline then online) to before starting the broker service again. As patch boots go at night I've got lots of angry users every time I come to work in the morning after a patch night. 

The Event Log spams: Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE'. Reason: Failed to open the explicitly specified database 'RdCms'. [CLIENT: <named pipe>]

"DBCC CHECKDB (RDCms, repair_allow_data_loss)"  reports no errors

Adding NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE to db_owner did not help. 

As this is an internal database I've got no backup from before the issues started. 

Anyone got a proper, permanent, solution?

Running multiple pages on web access server

We have a need to run multiple sites on the same RDS Web Access Server. Has anyone achieved this successfully, if so how as our quick testing wasn't successful due to the 'RDWebAccess' Application Pool constantly crashing when running 2 pages.

Licensing

Hello, I setup a VM on HyperV and run Remote Desktop services on it. I setup all the components including licensing. Everything looks fine except when I try to login to the server remotely as local admin I get a message that there is no licensing. I thought that there were two build in admin licenses and when I login remotely as admin the licensing I have setup for regular users would not be used. Any thoughts? What can I check or need to change for the admin licensing to work?

Remote Desktop Connection connecting from Windows 10 pro to Windows 7 Pro failing with "The Local Security Authority cannot be contacted". was working last week no changes on the network or machine configurations other than the regular windows update.
