Session ID 114 problem on RD Session Host at RDS Farm 2012 R2
Hello, we have deployed HA RDS Farm 2012 R2 with several Brokers, Session Hosts etc. The problem is - when a user gets allocated session ID 114 (ONLY THIS), he get a black screen and can't login in any scenario (admin or regular user). I see it on any of our session hosts, later this session can come to "DOWN" state, some how, and workin fine, till servers reboot.
Problem is googling by "session 114", still no solution... any ideas?

2012 RDS Remote Desktop Licensing Service issues
Hello Experts,
We have a 2012 R2 RDS environment. The licensing role is installed on the same server as gateway and RDWeb roles. We have been having many errors in the event logs of session host and licensing server.
On session host, we get:
Event ID 1061 "Remote Desktop Session Host server was unable to retrieve users Licensing information from AD. Error 0x8007054b"
and
Event ID 1131 "The Remote Desktop Session Host server could not contact the Remote Desktop license server licenseservername.domain.local.
Ensure that the Remote Desktop Licensing service is running on the license server, that the license server is accepting network requests, and that the license server is registered in WINS and DNS."
On the license server the event log shows the events of:
Event ID 4105 "The Remote Desktop license server cannot update the license attributes for user "username" in the Active Directory Domain "domain.local". Ensure that the computer account for the license server is a member of Terminal Server License Servers group in Active Directory domain "domain.local".
I have added the license server computer account to the Terminal Server License Servers group. When I run the RDS Licence Manager it shows green, and 50 per user CALS available, none in use.
When I run the licensing diagnoser on the session host, it shows green as well and lists the licesne server.
However, We still get the events, and there is a technet article instructing to restart the Remote Desktop Licensing service on the license server, but the services does not exist.
Also, licensing manager show 50 per user CALS available and none in use.

Can no longer RDP to Windows Server 2012 R2 Azure VM
After some potential bug on the Azure fabric, I have lost the ability to connect to two separate Azure VM's.
At first, they wouldn't even boot. I had to move the OS VHD to a recovery VM, run a fix on the boot files and then move the VHD back.
Now they boot, but when trying to RDP, it just sits at a black screen.
I am able to UNC path to the filesystem, so I copied the *.evt (Event Viewer) log files off one of the VM's.
I am seeing something concerning right away, in the Application Event Viewer section :::
Faulting application name: LogonUI.exe, version: 6.3.9600.17415, time stamp: 0x5450541b
Faulting module name: KERNELBASE.dll, version: 6.3.9600.17415, time stamp: 0x54505737
There is more to this but these are the key lines. I have a feeling this might be what is causing this black screen issue. I do not have any backups of these VM's.
Is this an issue that can only be corrected by an Azure Engineer with access to the host? Does anyone have any comments on this issue? I am pretty much out of options.

Web Access
Also, how many users can RDS support simultaneously?
Basically what Im asking is what are the:
HD requirements? Memory? and How many processors?

We have a problem with random users which get error message "The task you are trying to do can't be completed because Remote Desktop Services is currently busy. Please try again in a few minutes. Other users should still be able to log on." when they disconnect from the remote desktop service session and then tries to reestablish the connection.
When we connect to that session and open task manager users tab, we see that there is one user which doesn't have name only 4 processes are runing.
This can be solved by restarting the server and recreating user profile disk:
But we can't restart it allways and recreate the user disk becouse a lot of people works on that remote session server.
Also if we try to restart the server it just hangs up, then we need to force the shutdown by selecting "Turn off"
It's a virtual server with Windows server 2012 R2 OS installed.
Any help would be appreciated.

Remote Desktop Gateway and static RPC port
Hi
We need to use static RPC port because we have remote desktop gateway in DMZ-zone and we have to open firewall ports from DMZ to internal Network because of authentication. Registry settings are told link below what we have to do.

I have just performed a RDS Standard Deployment installed on 2012 R2. I have 1x Connection Broker and 2x Session Host servers on the internal network and 1x RD Gateway on the perimeter network.
I need to request and install a trusted certificate from trusted third-party certification authority.I need to create a CSR but can't figure out where to do this. Can I use the create the Certificate Signing Request using the Certificates snap-in in the Connection Broker or IIS installed on the RD Gateway ?

Disabling right-click on apps on the taskbar on Server 2012 R2
I am trying to lock down a Terminal Server used as a jump server to internal network. As part of the lockdown we are restricting access to MSTSC when logged on to the Terminal Server sessions. We use .rdp files to connect directly to named servers on the inside using redirected start menu with access based enumeration.
...that being said...the problem is:
When running a RDP connection from within the Terminal Server session the connection shows on the published desktop's taskbar as one would expect. However, users can right-click the active RDP sessions taskbar icon and select "Remote Desktop Connection"
that again opens the standard RDP dialog box, allowing user to type in any IP.
We migrated from Server 2008 R2 to Server 2012 R2 and use tha same GPO settings to lock down this. It works on Server 2008 WTS (users are NOT able to right-clcik the taskbar icon) but does not act the same on W2K12R2.

from 2011 states that this never worked since Windows 7 but since we do have it working on Server 2008 I doubt that this is accurate. Have someone any idea what it takes to lock this down on W2K12R2?
We have all the known context settings applied to GPO already (AD running in mixed mode (2008/2012)).

RD Gateway SBS2011 having horrible performance issues
Hello,
We're using SBS2011 en the RD Gateway tot connect to a old Terminal Server 2003 (which will be phased out very soon) and to the Desktop PC's (Windows 7 Pro) at work and to a 2012 Server (not R2).
But not matter to which I connect (using Windows 7 of 10 client), the performance is horrible.
We get response timeouts of 1-2 seconds about every 10-15 seconds!
The internet connection at work (down/up) is about 16/1 MBit (not much). But we also have this problem, when I work alone (latein the evening) and nobody is using the connection but me!
I've read this tread, but I can't see anything I can do to change the settings as then are already specified to use very low bandwidth.

I have installed and activated Licenses yet I continue to get warned that Rremote Decktop Services will stop working in ** Days. On the RD connection broker server....
Scenario
2012 Hyper V Host.(hypervisor)
3 Virtual servers 2012R2 installed,
Server 1 (ERP 1)
Server 2 (ERP2)
Server 3 Citrix, with both ERP 1&2 clients installed.
my new erp software (erp2) will be launched soon the citrix server will host the client for remote distribution.
I have installed the licenses on 2012 and activated them but each tie i log in I get a popup stating.
Remote Desktop licensing mode is not configured
Remote Desktop Services will stop working in 29 Days. (this started at 120) On the RD Connection Broker server (what is this??), user Server Manager to specify the Remote Desktop licensing mode and the license server.
I have gone to RD license Diagnose and the warning I also get is.
2 warnings
- The licensing mode for the Remote Desktop Host server is not configured
and
- The Remote Desktop Session Host server is within it's grace period but the RD Session Host has not been configured with any license Serer
when I use action/ connect to another host server and then point to my hyper V host / hypervisor the error goes away, ( i installed RD services on this machine as well.
Something is not configured properly, any help or direction would be welcomed.

TLS error in Internet Explorer 11 in RDS session, why??
I don't know exactly where to start, so I picked here.
We have users trying to reach https://www.tax.ny.gov with IE 11 in their RDS sessions (Win2k12 R2, all current patches).
They get this error:
Turn on TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, and TLS 1.2 in Advanced settings and try connecting to https://www.tax.ny.gov again. If this error persists, contact your site administrator.
All TLS 1.x is on by default in IE 11!! (I know the site uses TLS 1.2)
That site is in the IE Trusted Sites Zone by group policy!!
I can't think what could be the problem...suggestions anyone??
There is a group policy for explicitly forcing IE to use TLS 1.x but I have not tried it yet, I don't want to break other sites by accident, I will test it this evening.
This is not a Compatibility View problem.

2012 R2 RDS on domain controller problem
Having problems with RDS and AD DS on the same windows server 2012 R2 Server. By microsoft it is supported configuration, but it don't work for me.
Have tried two scenarios:
1. Installed Windows Server 2012 R2 as domain member, promoted it to domain controlled. Tried to install Remote Desktop Services Role with failure that it cannot install Broker service. In event viewer i see event as described here : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2799605 in scenario 1.
2. Installed Windows Server 2012 R2 as domain member, installed Remote Desktop services Role. Promoted it to Domain Controller. after reboot Remote Desktop Services connection broker service does not start. in event viewer i see event as described here : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2799605 in scenario 2.
How to solve this ?

Windows 2012 VM vs. multiple desktop connections. Remote Desktop Services
Forgive my ignorance......
I'm trying to set up a Windows 2012 server in application mode to allow multiple sessions at a time to it or unlimited sessions rather. My understanding is that the term "application mode" is no longer used but rather just "Remote Desktop Services" and\or "Remote Desktop Session Host".
I've installed both roles and all features therin. I don't however see any gui or snapin to configure unlimited connections for RDP connections. All I see is the following roles:
RD Liscensing Diagnoser
Remote Desktop Liscensing Manager.
I see no snapin or gui for Terminal Services or Remote Desktop Session Host. Where are these?
Are these roles not fully in affect if Windows 2012 is running in a VM. This install is a Windows 2012 trial version for testing. Is this a limitation of the trial version? If not, then were can I configure this? Thanks.

Downgrade TS CAL license 2012 to 2003 server error

i got below error message while i try to obtain the Terminal CAL license Key pack through my Windows server 2003 Terminal License server "Remote Desktop Licensing Service is unable to process your request. Make sure you provide the correct information. If the problem persist try other method of activation. Error code is 4095."
My Terminal Server is Open License 2012 that i need to downgrade to windows server 2003 that is actually out of the support. But in this case i really need this TS CAL to run on my Window Server 2003. I would be appreciate if you could help.

Yammer Notifier on RDS
Hi People,
A client is requesting that Yammer Notifier be installed on their Terminal Servers.
They are running Server 2008 R2 Std.
Is this possible, and if so what needs to be done to get it installed correctly.
