We have an install of Server 2008R2 Essentials which is showing the error below when trying to access Remote Web Access.

When accessing Remote Web Access by going to https://remote.abc.com/remote and logging it, the following error is displayed:

Everything was working fine before this error and i didn't make any changes

Port 3389 is blocked ramdonly

We have one Windows server 2008 as Remote Desktop server. Recently, the Remote users keep having a problem to access the server because the port is blocked. The RDP is enabled and they can login if the user tries a couple times. After the user login, he/she doesn't have any issues and he can keep the remote session forever. It is not network connectivity issue because consistent ping receives 100% reply. Whenever the port is blocked, our monitor send this alter "Connection to remote server on port 3389 failed with err=0". WE have disabled the Windows firewall and Symantec Endpoint Protection, but that doesn't make any different. Any ideals?

hi all

i have same issues at my all 4 terminal servers in  (server 2008 64 bit)

1. users complaining on random disconnections 3,4 times a day

2. when i trying to remote control on a user session (with admin user rights) i get blank screen with "access denied" message
and right away the user  status become to "disconnected"  (by the way i have seen recently another terminal server machine           2008 R2 that the remote control session succeeded but when admin user press on keys combination to end the session, the           session ending but access deny message is apears.... very weird :)  )

things i've seen & checked :

1.

2. configured remote control seetings from group policy to not require user permission and interact with the session

3.  checking the "sessions" tab

4.  found an event related repeatedly (and also right after the remote control session issue i mentioned)

5. went to this article :  https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/323497?wa=wsignin1.0

but no certificate entries was found at any of those Terminal servers

here are the Screen Shots:

Non-Perststent Windows 8.1 pool not fully reverting, consuming disk space?

$

0

I have a pool of 24 Windows 8.1 desktops that are used in a computer lab with Wyse thin clients. All the VDIs are stored on a single SSD array. We're using 2012 R2 datacenter as the host server and a 2012 server as the broker. After I built the 24 virtuals I had about one-third of the array left with free space. Over the course of several days the free space shrunk to less than ten percent. Eventually I ran out of disk space and had to delete a few virtuals to get things working again.

Trying to troubleshoot this I've been logging in and then out on each individual machine. This seems to release a little of the disk space. I've done this on about half and have freed up a good chunk of space. I have no idea on why the disk space is shrinking. Since each time I log into a virtual in the pool and log out the disk space increases, I'm assuming the pool is where the trouble is. Where would I start to look to determine what might be causing this?

Thanks,

Kevin

2012 R2 RDS Temporary Profile issue

$

I have set up a standard 3 node 2012 R2 RDS for testing. All virtualized on VMware ESXi 5.0. I have a connection Broker, session host, and web access server. I have published several applications and I can access them without a problem. Here is my issue:

When I try to log on to my session host server either locally or thru RDP, I am always logged in with a Temporary profile. It does not mater what user account I use. Even logging on locally as the administrator I get a temporary profile.

All windows updates are installed and current.

I have removed the server from the domain, deleted the account, and rejoined it to the domain.

I have deleted all .bak registry entries from here:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList

There is a hotfix here for a similar issue on 2012 but it does not apply to 2012 R2

The only event viewer errors are:

1515 (Windows has backed up this user profile. Windows will automatically try to use the backup profile the next time this user logs on.)

1511 (Windows cannot find the local profile and is logging you on with a temporary profile. Changes you make to this profile will be lost when you log off.)

Any suggestions to resolve would be greatly appreciated.

TS Performance issue on 2012 R2 provate cloud while working fine on 2012 cloud and clusters

We have windows 2012 private cloud running various applications including MS Terminal services 2008 R2 with APP-V 4.6. We’ve upgraded our private cloud to 2012 R2 while migrating TS services from 2012 private cloud to 2012 R2 private cloud we are facing following performance issues in Terminal services nodes.

    • Very slow logons 2. Slow response of VM after logon 3. Very slow applications launch

The same issue has been observed on newly created TS Node with 2012 R2 operating system. when we are moving TS Node in without group policy, it is working fine. Local administrator is working fine and same TS Node is working perfectly on other cluster and 2012 private cloud.
    Please advise.

I have currently set up and in production 2 x remote desktop servers, which is working fine on one session host, however we have set up load balancing, and this is the part that we are having issue with. all connections go to the one server and never the other, I cant find the problem at all.

would a Microsoft support call be able to support this kind of fix , as it may need some re-configuring and It is in a live environment?

    what are your thoughts

Error while logon on RDSH server in RDS2012 with user's expired password

Hi, we have RDS 2012 deployment.

Domain security says that users must change their passwords and when user with expired password try to connect to RDSH he gets error:You must change your password before logging on the first time. For assistance, contact your system administrator or technical support.

Internet says, that it can be fixed disabling NLA on RDS collection or RDSH, but NLA is disabled already.

Same error when reset user password and set user parameter "User must change password at next logon"

We know about solution with RDWeb password.aspx and enabled it, but anyway we need fix that current problem.

    Please help with that bug.

Server 2012 RDWeb internal / external domain name mismatch

    $

    0
I have a 2012 R2 RDS single server set up and am having difficulty accessing the RDS session from RDWeb. The RDS server contains all roles:
Connection Broker, Session Host, Gateway, and Web Access.

    The server is named RDS.domain.local
    The local domain is domain.local

Internally, I can access https://localhost/RDWeb/ and I am presented with the collection containing an RDS session. This works fine.
I have an A record externally pointing to Remote.domainname.com
I can access RDWeb from this url: https://remote.domainname.com/RDWeb

I can log in and authenticate, and am presented with the RDP icon for the RDS session. But, when I click it, it opens RDP but I get an error:
"Your computer can't connect to the remote computer because the Remote Desktop Gateway server is temporarily unavailable. Try reconnecting later or contact your network administrator for assistance."

I CAN use the RDP client and enter the gateway settings of remote.domainname.com and use the computername of rds.domainname.local externally and this DOES work.

I think the issue is with a domain mismatch, or since remote is not the name of the RDS server. I believe this because I had set this up in another environment where the domain and servername matched the gateway and RDweb server. What I mean is this:

    Working environment:
    internal domain name: domainname.com
    external domain name: domainname.com
    RDS / Gateway server: remote.domainname.com
    RDWeb URL:  https://remote.domainname.com/RDWeb

    Non-working environment:
    internal domain name: domainname.local
    external domain name: domainname.com
    RDS / Gateway server: rds.domainname.local
    RDWeb URL:  https://remote.domainname.com/RDWeb

Please note above the difference in .local and .com, also the name of the server. I believe I need to change something in IIS to redirect remote.domainname.com to rds.domainname.local but I need some guidance as to if I am on the right path, and how to correct this. Thanks in advance!

RD Web Access / RD Connection Broker - NLB/Round Robin or both?

    $

    Hi

Can someone point me to documentation that can assist with Infrastructure scaling and HA config of the RD Web Access/RD CB roles?

We have a successful PoC consisting of RD Web and RD CB on a single server (no GW required as we're using UAG) and several hosts.  Now looking to port to production, thinking of scalability and HA.  Looking to serve 300-750 users.

    Thinking so far:

    • RD Web Access role across 2 servers using NLB
    • RD Connection Broker across 2 servers - (maybe same as Web Access machines?) But CB appears to operate using DNS Round robin.  (https://msfreaks.wordpress.com/2013/12/23/windows-2012-r2-remote-desktop-services-part-2/)?
    • Can CB use NLB?
    • Which is preferred for the CB role, NLB or DNS round robin?

    Cheers

Is there a way to fix the Remote Desktop Connection Manager memory usage crashes?

I'm using RDCMan and it has been using a lot of memory and crashing.  With 12 connections it uses 1,548,976 K of memory and crashes with an "Unhandled exception" "Not enough storage is available to process this command. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070008)."  I love this program and want to know if there's a way to fix this on my end.  It seems like other people are not having this issue.  I'm running a fresh install of Win7 Ent.  I have .NET 3.51 and 4 installed. Do I need to installed .NET 2.0?

Here is the info from the crash:

I am using an electronic medical record. I access the EMR company data center utilizing Citrix but the company is switching to RDP. With some difficulty in nearly every case I have been able to set this up on all of our workstations except for one laptop (Win 8.1 Pro) . When I try to connect using that laptop the remote desktop connection crashes - "Remote Desktop Has Stopped Working". The event log reveals:

Faulting application name: mstsc.exe, version: 6.3.9600.17415, time stamp: 0x5450434f

Not terribly helpful. I have tried every fix suggested by the EMR company engineers including:

    1.      The site is added to trusted sites
    2.      Set for NTLMv2 response only
    3.      Pop-up blocker is off
    4.      Windows firewall is off
    5.   Persistent bitmap catching is turned off
    6.   Turning off all mapping to sound, printer etc.

I still can't get this to work. The EMR company where the server resides has pretty much thrown up their hand and left me twisting in the wind given that only one workstation is problematic and the problem is on "my end".
    Any suggestions ?

    Hi,

I have issue on 2012 R2 RD server with RD gateway role.
Some users cannot log off. They gets black screen and RD window don’t  close.  This window can be closed only from task manager.

    I checked these things:
-When user log off and gets black screen in process explorer nothing remains from this user but with netstat I can see opened connection on 443 port
-I tried start server with only MS services  - not helps
-Other interesting thing – my local pc from different places (different GW) do different – from one place disconnects but from other not. I checked with port scanner – results same
-I tried to install local pc without updates – not helps
    -I tried local pc os 2008r2, 2012r2
-Same problem if connecting from RDCMan but OK from Royal TS

I am on Windows 8.1 64bit HP Pavilion 15 Notebook.

After some troubleshooting I decided to do a full reinstall of windows from the recovery partition. I installed all available updates and updates all drivers, which seemed to resolve the issue above.

However, a new issue cropped up with the same RWW Shortcut where instead of "Remote desktop has stopped working" error the connection bar got stuck seemingly forever at "Initiating remote connection".

At this point I created a fresh RDP Shortcut to the same server with the same information in both (Server name, gateway, redirections) so that both shortcuts had identical data within.Note: all RDP files connect fine apart from the one on Remote Web Workplace.

I then opened both shortcuts side by side in Notepad and began comparing and altering configuration parameters. I found that after removing the following information I was able to connect using the previously broken RDP shortcut.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to why the above information was causing the issue in the first place?
