I am having RDS environment  where 2 web server and 4 gateway and 2 connection brocker and multiple farm , after login to rds website and then clicking the published icon we are getting rd gateway not reachable error. This issue occure for soem users only

I have come across an issue that I am struggling to resolve, I have searched the forums and cant seem find anything on them regarding this specific topic. So apologies if this has been discussed before and .

I have set up a group policy to automatically lock all screens after 5 minutes of inactivity. (Computer Configuration>Policies>Windows Settings>Security Settings>Local Policies>Security Options>Interactive logon: Machine inactivity limit) 

Domain server is Windows 2012 R2.

All the windows 10 machines will adhere to this and lock after 5 minutes of inactivity. The issue lies in the remote desktop.

We have 3 terminal servers running (Server 2012 R2) Which have picked up the above settings and show 5 Mins (300 seconds). However, they are locking after 3 minutes (I have timed it on multiple users accounts on all 3 servers). 

I have then tried changing the policy on the domain server to 10 mins (600 seconds) as a test, but they still lock after 3 minutes. The windows 10 machines change to 10 minutes and function as should.

Has anyone come across this before or have any suggestions on how to resolve.

I have a RDS Broker HA setup and wanted to upgrade the first broker to Server 2019. 
I removed the broker from the farm. Maybe i didnt have to do that, but i saw an article telling me to remove the broker from the farm in order to maintain availability to the RDS environment. So i did.
Once removed i upgraded the server to Server 2019. Now, when i try to readd the server to the farm i get a failure message saying "The list of joined servers could not be retrieved on server <servername of 2019>. Priviledge not held".

I wonder what priviledge its talking about? 
Did i brake the setup with the removal of the broker from the farm? I know, once broken, i have to rebuild everything. Is that the case?

We have a RDS server with a published SAP program (SAP resides on another server) which users connect over the Internet to. It all works OK, apart from when you open the attachments folder on SAP (it uses explorer) and try to either drag n drop or copy n paste a file to or from the local PC, you don't seem able to do it. If you connect to the RDS server normally using the RDS client (mstsc program) you can do it, but not using the published web app way.

Any ideas on this?

I want to move the server 2016 RDS users profile to Server 2019 server. Does anyone know a way to do it without any user interaction?

I have tried the xcopy command but when the user logs on the server assigns a temp profile.

We have an RDS enviroment with a gateway server thats also combined with the webacces role, a broker where the licensing role is also hang on to and five rds hosts. If we use the rdweb page and download the rdp file, everything works perfectl but when we use rdweb/webclient we get the error thats used in the subject. The url is the FQDN of the server. We use an wildcard certificate for every server. The webclient certifacte was installed on the broker, then exported from it and importer on the gateway where also the webcaccess role is configured. Can somebody please help me with this. I'm almost two weeks busy with it but really cant find any solution. I did a capture in the time that the error came up. these are the logs from it:

Hello folks

We have a Setup with two RDS Servers (Windows Server 2019). 1 Server is a Session Host with the Connection Broker, 1 server is the RDS Gateway. If we use mstsc to connect, we have to provide the URL/IP of the gateway (mstsc -> Show Options -> Advanced -> Settings -> Use these RD Gateway server settings...). This is a no-go because it's just to complicated for an enduser to provide this data/information. 

Question: 

can the RDS services be configured so that only the IP/URL of the gateway server must be specified? or is there any other best-practive aproach? it should be easy for an enduser to connect from the internet (without a vpn connection).

Hi,

in 2008 and later we could use the terminal services configurator app to set drain mode when you wanted to take out a session host from a farm to do maintenance. in 2019 that configuration app is removed and I saw post pointing me to server manager. But I have no idea where to find that setting in the RDS role in Server Manager.

I know I can do a change logon /drain but I would rather use a GUI

Also, there is a company wide GPO enabling RD connections and that seems to interfere with the drain mode

Hopefully someone in here can assist with a somewhat weird Remote desktop connection I've been seeing. As of a few weeks ago, all employees are on work from home, however I have been getting emails from users who have been experiencing Remote Desktop Connection kicking them off, then when they try to get back in, they get an error about too many users being logged on. For now, I have been remotely rebooting the workstation they are remoting in to. It should be noted that we do not user the server side, we connect to our SSL VPN which puts us on our network, then open up Remote Desktop Connection to connect to our workstation in the office. Any ideas?

We have a RDS environment with very few published apps.  Most of the use case is for someone to use their home PC to connect back to their work desktop to do work remotely.  It's simple, it works, and we've been doing it for years.  See the screenshot below.

With recent events, wee're having a lot of staff working for home, with more and more staff are needing to do this.  Up to this point, only Windows-based laptops/computers have been supported.  We're having more and more requests to use Chromebooks or MacBooks as that is what some staff use for personal devices.  It could even be iOS or Android devices as well.

Can the Microsoft Remote Desktop App from each respective app store allow staff to connect back to their work desktop PC?  Maybe there is a better way to allow Chromebooks or MacBooks to reach the office PC?  Please advise if so.  Because we are not using a split-tunnel config, no VPN client is used by the staff working from home on personal devices...Only staff with agency issued devices have the VPN client installed.

Hello, I have customer that has per device cals split between two rds session host workgroup servers. Device licenses get assigned on either server but not both. Users can only log in to the server that has their device license. Is there a way to split the license so the users can get a license assigned on both servers? 

I'm trying to set up user profile disks for a Session based Remote Desktop Services deployment in Windows Server 2012R2.

I have two servers configured as session hosts in a single session collection.

I have a third server with the broker and gateway roles installed, and some additional storage provisioned to store the user profile disks.

On the third server I have created a share named \\hostname\userprofiledisks and assigned Everyone Full Control on the Share Permissions, and the two host servers Full Control on the NTFS permissions.

When I attempt to enable User Profile disks using this configuration I receive the error message:  Could not create the template VHD. Error Message: -800391115.  I am attempting to apply the settings while logged as a Domain Admin.  I have tried re-creating the share, rebooting all servers, and verified all permissions.

I can't find references to this error anywhere online.  Can anyone suggest what I might try next to get this working?  Or at least what this error means?

We have built a new RDGateway\RDWeb server and initial testing was working successfully.  We then installed our MFA Solution (SMS Passcode) and are now getting getting this error:

The user "userid", on client computer "ipaddress", was not authorized to connect to the RD Gateway server because a tunnel could not be created. The authentication method attempted: "Cookie" and connection protocol "HTTP". The following error occurred: "2147965432".

This is occuring on all browsers we have tested with (Edge-Chromium, Chrome, IE111) but if the user does an Empty cache and hard refresh in their browser, they are able to successfully authenticate and connect.

If we do an iisrest on the RDWeb server, users are able to successfully authenticate and connect for approx. 10 minutes before this starts occurring again.

We have totally rebuilt the server and installed all roles and have consultants double check the RDGateway\RDWeb setup to confirm those are installed correctly.

Has anyone seen this before or may now of a fix?

We are using windows service 2019 with RDS CAL 2019. The session host is windows server 2016. This microsoft page shows Windows Server 2016 session host can use RDS CAL 2019. After RDS license server setup and license imported. Notice the windows server 2016 session host check out the license, however the available number under 2019 doesn't get count down shown as below. Should I see available 9 because one is issued out? Is there something configured wrong?
