Hello,

I have the following problem in this moment. I have a windows server 2019 with RDS role install and configurated, when i try to print to a printer that need windows autentication (my login session) that is in a other print server i get a windows that ask me to put my credencial (login and password), i put my credencial and do ok and i get windows warning with the message "Entered [Login User Name] or [Login Password] is different. Enter correct [login User Name] or [Login PAssword]."

And i dont pass from this step. If i do this test with a user session that have local administration permission in the RDS server i have no problem to print the document.

What is the problem with the users session that dont are local admin of the RDS server for printing? Can someone help me?

Remote Desktop v. Remote Desktop Connection - Multiple Monitors

$

So I only just realized that there is a difference between remote desktop and remote desktop connection.  TO me remote Desktop works infinitely better.

I have been asking my IT how to allow Remote Desktop to use multiple monitors since i have a dual monitor system at home on top of my laptop screen.

He showed me how to use set up multiple monitors on Remote Desktop Connection.  For some reason I can't login in my computer when using the RDC.   Only on RD

What I can't figure out is how to allow multiple monitors on the remote desktop app. Does anyone know how to activate that setting on RD.

Thank you

RemoteApp Event 1026

WS2012 RDSH/RDCB/RDG/RDWEB. The RDSH is dedicated; other RDS roles are on another server.

On the RDSH, the logs have many of these events:

Log Name:      Microsoft-Windows-RemoteApp and Desktop Connections/Admin
Source:        Microsoft-Windows-RemoteApp and Desktop Connections
Date:          4/10/2016 11:50:36 PM
Event ID:      1026
Task Category: None
Level:         Warning
Keywords:
User:          DOMAIN\Username
Computer:      RDSH.DOMAIN.LOCAL
Description:
The installation of the default connection has been cancelled. A default connection cannot be used on a system that is part of a Remote Desktop Services deployment.

User: DOMAIN\Username

They repeat every 1.5-2 hours for each logged on user.

My web searches so far have turned up only one way this can happen: If a user tries to use RemoteApp and Desktop Connections to set up a feed from the RDCB...but that's not happening.

Misconfiguration? Or just log noise?

TIA

Your computer can't connect to the Remote Desktop Gateway server

I'm experiencing weird failure when trying to connect the remote gateway server.

The server is 2016 version. And all the other clients have no issue. But the clients from one company are weird. If the clients connected to their company network through wifi, there is no problem. But if the clients connected to their company network through wired ethernet, then "Your computer can't connect to the Remote Desktop Gateway server. Contact your network administrator for assistance" pops up. I tried some methods which solved other guys' issue. But not work for me.

I checked the events on the server. The wired login attempts leads to event 4625 and reports a 0xC000035B error. I think their company network may have problem but I should be able to fix it on my server. But I don't know how.

Can anybody help me out?

Should RDS NPS servers be in DMZ or LAN when you have an RODC?

Hi All,

We have a domain joined RDS gateway server in our DMZ using an RODC for LDAP/AD connections.  In this scenario, is it best to put an Azure MFA NPS server in the DMZ or LAN?  Currently we have it in the DMZ (working fine), as the network team have said the fewer open ports between the DMZ and LAN the better.

I'm just wondering if there's any reason to move it into the LAN?

Thanks!!

Best practice in Publishing all in one RDSH/Terminal server roles to the internet for remote workers?

Hi All People,

I have deployed the new Windows Server Terminal Server across 5 of my data centre location to support remote workers.
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/remote/remote-desktop-services/rds-deploy-infrastructure

The above is one of the server configurations that is deployed in my internal network and then access via the browser:
https://RDSH-VM01.domain.com/RDWeb/
https://RDSH-VM02.domain.com/RDWeb/
...
up to https://RDSH-VM05.domain.com/RDWeb/

Can anyone please confirm if the above is secure and can be deployed since there is no Best practice documentation to follow?

If not what is the suggested ways to deploy to allow secure remote users to login while minimizing the cost and server deployment?
Thank you in advance.

Updating Expired Passwords on Wyse 3040 ThinOS 8.6_206

We have a number of Wyse 3040's running ThinOS 8.6_206.

The users of these devices are reporting that once their password has expired, they are then not able to update the password without resorting to calling the helpdesk for help.

Researching this I found a number of threads that suggested disabling NLA.
Is this my only option? If at all possible I would rather not disable security features to enable this.

I also noted some references to using RD WebAccess to redirect to the password reset website. Though my understanding of this is that it would only work whilst connecting from a full OS with a proper web browser. Am I understanding this correctly?

I will certainly be trying to manage this from the user side as well... But at the same time would like a technical fix if at all possible.

Any insight into this would be greatly appreciated.

Sessions are suddenly redirected to one session host

Hi,

I'm experiencing problems with my RDS setup for a week now. All servers run Windows Server 2016 standard. The setup is as followes;

23x session host server
1x RD session broker
1x RD licensing
1x RD web access

I've created a DNS forward lookup zone for RDS.MYDOMAIN.COM and added A-records for all the session hosts. Clients connect to this address. There a 5 more collections active on the broker. These collections contain a few session hosts each. No problems here.

The servers ran smoothly for the last year now. Sinds last week suddenly all session are redirected to one random session host about every morning.

All session hosts are rebooted every night and after that the broker gets a reboot. When the problem occurs, a reboot fixes it for some time. But the issue comes back. Session host 22 and 23 were added to the collection 3 days before the problems started to occur.

Any help is more than welcome!

Need advice about licensing

I plan to install a server as remote desktop terminal for 5 users (instead of using 1 pc desktop for each user for their remote desktop terminal). I plan to buy HPE ML30G10 and Windows 2019 standard edition. What license do I need for 5 concurrent remote desktop connections? Can I configure the server as workgroup? I'm confused with the many Windows licensing schemes.

We have requirement for RDP user authentication, example if user accessing remote should ask permission with other active user for accessing remote like SCCM remote.

RD Connection Broker multiple Collections

$

Hello,

I've got a question about multiple Collections with 1 RD Connection Broker. We've got in our environment 1x Connection Broker (which is also Licensing Server) with 1 collection (called Farm1). This collection has 10x RD Session Hosts and we use Round Robin with an DNS entry farm1 which points to the IP-Adress of the Connection Broker. On the Connection Broker we've set the Reg-Key "DefaultTsvUrl" in HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\TerminalServer\ClusterSettings for the Collection Farm1. This works very well with the load balancing. Without this Reg-Key we had the problem with themporary user profiles (we also use User Profile Discs).

Now we need a second Collection called Farm2 which has 6x RD Session Hosts. I want to provide this Collection via the same RD Connection Broker but because the Reg-Key points to the Collection Farm1 I always connect to the wrong RD Session Hosts. Is it possible to provide multiple Collections with 1 RD Connection Broker and also use Round Robin to avoid themporary profiles and have load balancing for each Collection? Or do I have to create a second RD Connection Broker (1 for each Collection)?

Azure screen on second monitor will not expand using HDMI - DVI cable

Hi all,

Because of the whole corona home office setup for two I have to connect a second monitor to my laptop with an HDMI to DVI cable (the second monitor only has the DVI portal). Now I'm experiencing problems when I want to expand the Azure remote desktop screen on to both monitors. It just will not detect the second screen... With 2 regular HDMI monitors there is no problem and Azure can be expanded on the two monitors. Somehow the HDMI - DVI cable disrupts this workflow.

Anyone here that has a solution to this problem?

Thanks!

Hello everyone,

I am able to allow new connection to my RDSH using the following command with an administrator user :

Set-RDSessionHost -SessionHost 'xxxx' -NewConnectionAllowed Yes -ConnectionBroker 'xxxx'

But, I have a deployment tool that can schedule some task, this tool use the "NT AUTHORITY\System" account

Do you know if there is some way to authorise this user to change RDSessionHost status ? It would be great

Thanks

Remote Desktop Licensing

Hello All ,

I am facing one problem I am not able to direct a Server in Test forest with License Server in Prod forest.

I am not sure if this is possible or not as I am doing this for the first time. Any information on this will be freatly apppreciated.

Here is the Detailaed explation:

I have a KMS 2016 server where we have installed the RDS CAL (Per user). Whenever I have received request to activate the Remote Desktop Services on any other Server, from GPEDIT -> I give the KMS server name or IP in "Use the Specified Remote Desktop License Server". By doing this the Server will start taking RD licenses from KMS server.

When I am trying to do above steps on a Server in Test forest( network connectivity is exists) it is showing

The Remote Desktop Session Host server is in Per Device licensing mode and No Redirector Mode, but license server xxxx does not have any installed licenses with the following attributes:
Product version: Windows Server 2016
Licensing mode: Per Device
License type: RDS CALs or VDI Premium Suite licenses

On the License Server I can see the free licenses.

FSLogix and Storage spaces direct

We have a Server 2016 RDS farm and are looking to migrate from UPD's to FSLogix. We are interested in doing Storage spaces direct in a cluster.

What is the best way to do this? If we use two Dell R730 servers to host the storage what roles are needed?

From what I read you would install storage spaces direct on both the servers as well as the clustering role.

Would I setup the two servers in a cluster first then add storage spaces direct to both servers?

Thanks

RemoteApp RDS2019 - splash screens stuck on client

$

Hi!

I am testing RDS 2019 with RemoteApp, and I have problems with startup splash screens. Each splash screen creates a button on the client’s taskbar and does not disappear from desktop and taskbar after the appearance of the main window. For example, I run three RemoteApp and I have three splash screens and three program windows on my desktop. And even if I close these windows, the splash screens will still remain on desktop and cannot be closed. This happens only in RemoteApp and does not occur with a remote desktop mode. I tried to recreate an RDS farm again, but it does not help.

This does not happen with all programs (having splash screen), but with many. At the same time, there were no such problems at RDS 2012R2/2016.

As RDCB and RDSH used Windows Server 2019 with latest cumulative update (2019-01). As clients used Windows 10 1709/1809 with same update.

RemoteApp Stuck at Loading the virtual machine...

This has become a rather prevalent issue for us. It is random and I am having a hard time finding a RCA

ENV: = Server 2016 Servers running in a HA environment. Only used for RemoteApps.

Connection Brokers = CB01, CB02

Web/Gateway Servers = WB01, WB02

Session Hots = RDSH01, RDSH02

DB is HA on a dedicated SQL server

When a user clicks an application it pops up the following:

At this point the app is stuck.  Nothing can be done. you have to use task mgr to force kill the process.

From a logging perspective all components are listed above and show the followign information during applicaiton launch.  I cannot figure out what is causing this.

Any advice would be awesome!
