USB redirection issues

$

Hello,

I may have mis- interpeted a guide and installed actual Fijitsu 5120C drivers on our Terminal services environment (Windows Server 2012 standard edition).  I believe this was incorrect for now the server attempts to load scanner drivers rather than redirect the existing USB device.    I cannot seem to uninstall the drivers or remove the device.  The drivers reload.   After a terminal services session launches the Fijitsu drivers load and the scanner disappears from the USB redirection list and shows up as an installed scanner.   Cool, except for no connection can be established with the scanner.  I used Windows 8 server 2012 drivers from the Fijitsu website to install.

I am guessing that the solution is to completely remove the drivers and then redirection might occur, but I cannot seem to prevent the drivers from loading.

I am an administrator on the Terminal services and I've uninstalled the drivers through control panel and removed the device through printer and devices, but the device keeps reloading.

Any ideas would be greately appreciated.

Thanks,

ED

Remote App Problems

We're publishing the NAV Classic Client as a remote app and using the following arguments:
SERVERNAME=192.168.0.X\msnav, DATABASE="DBName", COMPANY="CompanyName", NTAUTHENTICATION=1, OBJECTCACHE=9600, ID="Z:\ZUPS\%USERNAME%.zup"
Unfortunately when we use the remote app it just uses the default location for all the ZUPs, but when we use the arguments from a shortcut on a machine that has the classic client installed it works just fine which is kind of confusing to me.   Am I doing something wrong?   Is there a different argument that I should be using?

certificate mismatch and double password prompts for 2012 RDS

$

We have a 2012 server with RDWeb, RDGateway, and RDCB roles installed:  rds.domain.LOCAL

We then have another 2012 server that is a RDSH: rd1.domain.LOCAL

The gateway server has a wildcard cert installed for *.domain.COM and I have installed RDCB HA and set the HA name to rd.tvotech.COM which is the same hostname being externally used by clients to connect to RDweb/RDGateway.

So now if I log in from a Windows 8 machine, or from my Surface RT, it is seamless and opens without issue...

But if I log in from a Windows 7 machine, after clicking Connect I get prompted to authenticate again (despite having already authenticated via RDWeb) and then I get a warning popup letting me know that there is a certificate mismatch and the computer name is rd1.domain.LOCAL...  Why is the name of the actual RDSH server getting shown to the client at all, shouldn't that be hidden?

Going to test from an XP machine and a Mac now, but any ideas on why the Win7 box can't seamlessly connect would be great...

Thanks!

Wes

Managing the (Metro) Start Screen on RDS

I've been looking for a way to manage the Start Screen on RDS in Server 2012, but can't find anything useful.

Previously I have used the 'Start Menu folder redirection GPO', to present a pre-configured Start Menu to the RDS users.

Well.... Now that the Start Menu is replaced by the Metro Start Screen, it seems that we'll have to manage that differently.

How do I do that in Server 2012? I don't want the users to have to manually setup their "startmenu"

Hi,

I have published an Access program using RemoteApp and I would like to limit the remote app to only 1 session.  I would like to limit the remote user to open the app in concurrent remoteapp session.  Is this possible?  Is there a setting that could handle this.

Any help or guidance out there would be appreciated.

Hi,

We have Remote Desktop Farm so all users are connecting to their desktop using RD.

RD servers are Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise editions.

Users are having very slow loading websites through RD using IE9. There are certain type of websites loading very slow.

Eg. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/internet-explorer/products/ie-9/welcome
http://www.smallmiracle-srilanka.co.uk/
http://www.ctc-aspire.co.uk/

pga etakes agaes to load.

There are few other browsers are also installed on the RD servers which does not have this issue.

I checked on the RD servers itself with IE9 & dont see the slow down. I am not sure any GP creating this issue.

GPO wallpaper Windows 2008R2 session host

I configured a GPO to force the wallpaper for user connecting to our remote session host running Windows server 2008R2. The policy does not seem to function. Enclosed you will find a screenshot of the applied policy. I went through a couple of posts on the forum and also tried the following script:

:: Configure Wallpaper
REG ADD "HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop" /V Wallpaper /T REG_SZ /F /D "\\dc1\Wallpaper\AS-Wallpaper-v2.jpg"
REG ADD "HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop" /V WallpaperStyle /T REG_SZ /F /D 0
REG ADD "HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop" /V TileWallpaper /T REG_SZ /F /D 2
:: Make the changes effective immediately
%SystemRoot%\System32\RUNDLL32.EXE user32.dll, UpdatePerUserSystemParameters

After a ran this script and opened control panel- display- change desktop background and close it straight away. The background image is showed. When I log off and log back on the image is gone. The background color is fine, it is just the image.

Default Printer changes - Terminal Server 2008

We have three TS 2008 servers using session broker. People are complaining that the default printer keeps changing.
We make sure they log off correctly so it's saved to their profile, cannot see any errors but when they log back in, it's changed to a local print queue e.g pdf creator.

I have been using folder redirection and thought that maybe causing it but it doesn't look like it.
I have been having multiple issue with printing and terminal server 2008 but need to knock them off one at a time I think.

Hi All,

Hope someone can help me please.

Any new terminal servers that we install in our environment we are unable to remote control through tsadmin.msc. We get the below error message pop up:

(Error 7054 - the system has reached its licensed logon limit. Please try again later.)

*No errors in the event log.

*Licensing mode is set to Per User

*The Windows Licensing service is disabled on both the TS and licensing server

*Existing TS's work fine.

Please can someone help, i'm really confused?

Thanks

particular (admin) user will not load profile or my documents correctly..

I have an xp sp3 user with roaming profile and My Documents redirected to \\fileserver\users\username \My documents.
When they log into 2008 sp1 all the folders redirect except for Documents with the error 502, source Folder Redirection. The details gives the following peculiar error message - Failed to apply policy and redirect folder "Documents" to "\\fileserver\users\username\My documents". Redirection options=9211. The following error occurred: "Failed to build the list of regular subfolders under "\\TERMSERVER\\users\username\Documents". Error details: The network name cannot be found. (TERMSERVER being the name of the terminal server)

Well that is hardly surprising as I don't have a \\termserver\users share on the terminal server but there are very few relevant search pages that help with the regular subfolders settings.
The weird thing is that things like video does redirect - "Successfully applied policy and redirected folder "Videos" to "\\fileserver\users\username\My Documents\My Videos"

So if it can redirect videos why can't it do the documents?

At one point I deleted c:\users\username for this user and then it was redirecting the My Documents ok but I then kept getting ""Your user profile was not loaded correctly!" and eventvwr shows "Windows cannot find the local profile and is logging you on with a temporary profile. Changes you make to this profile will be lost when you log off". So at this point my redirection works, but I lose my profile!  As per http://tinyurl.com/cnesj9 I deleted the entry in the sid list in hkey_Local_machine\software\microsoft\windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList and rebooted and then on next login I went back to the same thing - My documents not working but the profile is permanent!

When it's not working, right clicking on Documents in the start menu gives me a blank dialog box with nothing displayed at all.

I created a brand new user, logged in with xp, vista and windows2008 and the profile roams and my documents roam with the same settings so I know it *should* work!

I set the FdeployDebugLevel flag as per http://technet.mirosoft.com/en-us/library/cc759194.aspx but this does not produce a file within the debug\usermode folder (but does seem to provide better logging within eventvwr)

Users do not have a terminal server profile set in ADUC, profile IS set in the profile tab to \\fileserver\profiles\username (with all roaming folders redirected to \\fileserver\users\username)

If I compare the rsop for my two users they are identical apart from the non-working one is missing My Documents and the folder direction has "failed due to the error listed below. Cannot complete this function"

Any ideas? I've been banging my head against a brick wall on this problem for far too long

The user profile service failed the logon user profile cannot be loaded

Hi

I have a problem with one of my users where she cannot log onto two of the four terminal servers in my RDS farm, she gets the error above. The user has a roaming profile on a file server. I tried finding the SID under profile list in the registry to delete it on the terminal servers and on the file server but cannot find the SID. I also tried deleting the roaming profile completely to see if that would help but it does not. This is on Server 2008R2 Standard.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Brad.

Can Windows 2012 RDS CALs be used for Windows 2003 TS Server?

$

Hi

I've got a Windows 2012 license server with 2012 RDS Cals installed. I've also got a large number of 2003 TS servers that need to access this license server for CALs.

Can a 2012 license server serve up cals to a 2003 server?

The reason I ask is I tested with one of the 2003 servers and found that the 2012 license server issued a temporary license rather then one from the 2012 pool

Hi,

I have an urgent case, I have two RDVH named cloud01 and cloud02, my RDCB install in cloud01 as a Hyper-V VM named rdcb01.

I find sometime the RDMS Console UI in rdcb01 will hang, The UI keep refreshing and with no collection can be show in the UI, actually I have three collections.

But I try to use Powershell cmdlet to manage or show the status of my RDS, everything is ok.

So I think something hang my UI, but I don't know why.

[RIDDLE] Why do I have randoms slow RDC logon

$

Hello,

Here the riddle:

1 - All my servers (DC included) have a good DNS configuration, all patchs, no virus.

2 - It happens randomly

3 - It happens for everyone, included administrators

4 - It disappears after a reboot or without doing anything !

5 - It happens on TSE servers

6 - We don't use Profile Redirection

7 - We don't have plenty of GPO.

8 - It happens even without specifical GPO's

9 - Already checked using Process Monitor, nothing strange.

10 - So why do I still have random slow logon, blocked on "Applying personnal settings" during 5 to 30 minutes ?

EDIT: Added point 9.

Hi Experts

I was just going through the Terminal Performance document and got some information about inactive TS ports which may create problem on performance.I can see lots of values starting from ##. I understand that they are system produced information related to different-diffrent hardwares.

Is it safe to delete them? What will be impact on performance if i del them.

Terminal Server getting BSOD please help!

Hi people, I´m managing 3 terminal servers, all these servers are running on hyper-v host, I'll try to describe the scenary below:

All machines are up to date and running Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 (x64).

I have a lot users connect in each one of these virtual machines (I believe 100 users per vm), printer redirection is enabled and I getting BSODs frequently.

I´ve been analyzing the crash dump and it says that probably the driver called "rbdss.sys" is causing the issue, I´ll past a fragment of the crash dump below.

I´ve been trying to understand why this is happening, I believe that when some printer is getting redirect some faulty driver installed causes the BSOD.

Easy print driver is enabled but most of printers are using proprietary drivers.

I really appreciate any suggestion, thanks in advantage and sorry my poor english.

Moving Customer from ELA to SPLA

Hello Everyone:

My apologies if this question has been discussed before, however I was not able to find a ton of information on this specific topic. I have a customer that is looking to outsource their Windows desktops to us under our DaaS offering based on MS SPLA. We will be providing them with a Remote Desktop Session (RDS, Windows 2012) and MS Office. They are a current MS ELA customer and run MS Exchange in their environment, and they had just renewed their Software Assurance agreement. Since they will be keeping MS Exchange is there any program that MS offers that allows a customer to transfer their MS desktops licensing under a ELA agreement over to a MS SPLA agreement providing an RDS session \ desktop without having to restructure the Exchange licensing?

Best Regards,

John
