Can anyone tell me how to get a RemoteFX Partner Licence? My company does not want to obtain a Gold or Silver competency because it is offers many services that we do not need. We are a chip developer and want a RemoteFX Partner Licence to obtain the hardware code so we can develop RemoteFX integrated hardware.

Console session after rdp as same user blank screen

If I login to the server on the console as say "User 1" start a bunch of programs then lock the screen.  Then later RDP to the server as User 1, I see all the same programs I started in the previous session at the console, now the difference is that the console screen has a very high resolution and the rdp client is only 800 x 600. I disconnect the rdp session and then go back to the console and the console is nothing but a black screen. I can't get the login screen to come up. I've tried logging off as user 1 before I disconnect the rdp session but it doesn't make a difference. The console screen is still a black screen and I end up having to log back in as the rdp client and reboot the server, then the console comes back to normal login screen.

Has anyone seen this before?

Hello,

With 2008 R2 to admins could review settings on a server simultaneously by just going to task manager then users and then remote control another session.   Is there any way to do that with Windows 2012?

Windows Server 2012 Session Host missing User Shadowing feature

$

I have just been helping a client to setup a pilot RDS system using Windows Server 2012 with 2 x Session Hosts.

One of the first thing the client asked was how they can connect to user sessions and "shadow" them for support/troubleshooting as they currently do on their 2008 R2 Session Hosts.

On further investigation it seems that the feature has been removed from 2012 for some reason and there doesn't appear to be any obvious workrounds or solutions.

Can someone please let me know if there is a way to provide this functionality, as without it this client (any many others) will not be implementing 2012 Session Hosts.

Cheers for now

tsusbflt.sys missing on Windows 7

$

I am trying to connect a Windows 7 Enterprise physical machine (in a workgroup) to a Windows 7 Enterprise virtual machine (on domain) on a Windows Server 2012 host.  The VM's are in a personal managed configuration.  I have serveral computers that can connect and redirect a USB device via RemoteFX fine.  I have a few that will not.  On those that do not, when I click on the remoteapp, it gives me the option to redirect audio and other PnP devices, but the RemoteFX checkbox isn't available.

In looking for a solution I stumbled on http://blogs.msdn.com/b/rds/archive/2010/11/08/introducing-microsoft-remotefx-usb-redirection-part-3.aspx that talks about checking the USB Root for the file    tsusbflt.sys   I have done so and that file is not referenced.  As such, it would seem that RemoteFX is "not properly installed or enabled" per the language in the article.

On the physical machine I have modified the local group policy as follows (and then rebooted)

- Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Connection Client\RemoteFX USB Device Redirection\Allow RDP redirection of other supported RemoteFX USB devices from this computers     ---  Enabled for Administrators and Users

- Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Session Host\Connections\Select RDP transport protocols - Enabled Use both UDP and TCP

- Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Session Host\Remote Session Environment\Enable Remote Desktop Protocol 8.0   - Enabled

As such, I would have though I had it configured correctly to work, but as I don't see the tsusbflt.sys referenced... something must be wrong.  How can I install/enable RemoteFX device redirection in this situation?

Where is the Terminal Services Configuration?

When I access the server remotely I want it to keep it's default printer, and not switch to the laptops default printer.  I've searched the net for how to do this, and every page says I need to access the terminal services configuration, or follow this "computer config | policies |admin templates | windows components | terminal services | terminal server | printer redirection:". I have absolutely no idea how to get to the Terminal Services Configuration OR "computer config".  When I click Start and hover over Administrative Tools, there is not an option starting with Terminal.  Can someone please explain to me how to fix my problem with Windows Server 2008???  Thank you!

Windows 2012 remote Desktop SSL not working

I have setup a Windows 2012 remote Desktop farm. It seems to be working except it ignores its SSL configuration and allows connection from any interface. The server manager GUI told me to use group policy to configure security. I did that and it made no difference.

Any ideas?

By the way, if you can find any documentation on Windows 2012 remote Desktop services that would be great.

RDS 2012 - adding 2008R2 Session Host

Im evaluating Remote Desktop Services on Windows 2012, and hit an application incompatibility with a session host app, will not run on 2012.  It will run on 2008 R2, so I setup a Win2k8R2 machine with session host role, added the FQDN to the ws08r2rdserver   setting on the web.conf file - add the web host server name to the 2008r2 TS Web Access Computers group.  This was setup following message on this forum, and from http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/17021.migration-guide-for-rds-ws2008-r2-rdsh-farm-to-ws2012-rds-deployments.aspx

However, not only does the win2012 web access site not show the published app from the win2k8r2 machine, connecting to the web access site once i add the ws08r2rdserver value s l o w e d down considerable.

suggestions?  I must be missing something.

Cannot Connect Using Remote Web Access to Windows 7 Computer from Home

$

Hello,

I have recently built & manage five computers running Windows 7 Pro & a server running Windows Server Essentials 2012.  All clients log onto a domain & everything seems to be working properly, to the best of my knowledge.  My issue is that I'm unable to connect to one of the computers by remote web access outside of the office.  Anywhere Access has been configured on the server & we are using the (company).remotewebaccess.com domain to connect.  From there four out of the five computers can connect by remote desktop & one computer does not, with the following generic error message:

Remote Desktop can't connect to the remote computer for one of the following reasons: 1) Remote access to the server is not enabled. 2) The remote computer is turned off. 3) The remote computer is not available on the network.  Make sure the remote computer is turned on & connected to the network & that remote access is enabled.

In Server Manager one of the event messages is: ID 304, The user "(domain name)\(user name)", on client computer "(ip address)", met connection authorization policy and resource authorization policy requirements, but could not connect to resource "(computer name)". Connection protocol used: "HTTP". The following error occurred: "23005".

The router/firewall being used is a Cisco RV220W.  Some trouble-shooting steps I've taken so far: I have re-installed Windows 7 Pro as a clean install on the problem computer, turned off the Windows Firewall, made sure remote desktop is enabled in advanced system settings, made sure remote desktop services are running in computer management services, etc.  I am able to connect remote desktop from one computer to problem computer with it's ip address, when at the office.

I am somewhat of a novice with networking & have been working on this issue for quite some time now.  It is very important to this business, that this user can work from home & I'm not sure what else to do.  Any guidance & assistance would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

Unable to connect to RDS server when using SSL (TLS 1.0) with new cert

Hi,

I have setup a Windows 2008 R2 RDS server, with the necessary CALs, licenses installed. I am able to connect to the RDS server using my client (windows 7) when i set the Security layer to be "SSL (TLS 1.0)" and it works fine. this is when i am using the default auto generated cert. I have since tried to install a new cert with a trusted CA. however, i encounter this error on my client when trying to access the RDS server.

"The remote computer requires that authentication be enabled to connect.

Remote computer: myRDSserver

The connection cannot proceed because authentication is not enabled."

The CA's cert is already installed under the Certificates (Local Computer) -> Trusted Root Certification -> Certificates on my CLIENT machine.

The RDS server cert is installed under Certificates (Local Computer) -> Personal -> Certificates

I have not been able to solve this error after searching the net.. anyone able to advise? thank you!

Remote Desktop 2012 Screen Flicker

$

Hi Everyone,

I have a client using Windows Server 2012 RDS (Hyper-V Virtual Machine). When using RemoteApp they open an email via outlook (maximised by default) The screen flickers between the email and inbox for about 10 seconds. If they open the email (not maximised by default) there is no flicker. Other apps such as Word and Excel are also affected to a lesser extent.

They run about 20 client machines (mixture of Windows XP and Windows 7 SP1). The Windows 7 machines have been updated to RDP8. But all machines experience the flicker. We have set users to Basic themes and disabled shadows and animations. We have also update all video card drivers on the clients.

We have setup UDP support for Remote FX via the 2012 RDS Gateway and this works well under a full non RemoteApp session (UDP enabled in the connection bar). Interestingly this flicker does not occur under a full RDS session.

Has anyone got any ideas what may be causing this flicker??

Many Thanks!
